Seeding for Worlds on the Line at the LEC Finals

The four LEC teams that will continue their campaign to become the 2023 League of Legends World Champions have been determined following the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals at the LEC Finals.

G2 Esports and MAD Lions have both secured a spot at Worlds, while Fnatic and Team BDS will both be traveling to Korea, but one of them will have to battle with the LCS’s Golden Guardians in the Worlds Qualifying Series.

Fnatic vs. Team BDS

• Odds: Fnatic (-165) vs. Team BDS (+125)

The summer darlings of the LEC, Fnatic, were able to find a 3-2 win over Excel Esports in the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals last week.

After falling into a 2-1 deficit, Fnatic’s squad was able to find wins in Games 4 and 5 with large help from their Support Trymbi, who was named the match MVP.

Though the fan favorites had a much better Summer Split, their last match has shown that they’re still a vulnerable team that could find some difficulties when they load onto the Rift with Team BDS.

Team BDS was unhappy to find themselves in the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals after falling to G2 Esports in the Upper Bracket Semifinals 1-3.

However, the squad was able to show off their mental fortitude, securing a trip to Korea by taking down SK Gaming in a clean, dominant 3-0 stomp. The closest game was the first one, which went over 42 minutes before Team BDS could close it out.

The last two games were cleaner, though in a 3-0 match, there is little more you could ask for them. They hope that they’re able to maintain this level of play as they try to pull off the upset over Fnatic.

G2 Esports vs. MAD Lions

• Odds: G2 Esports (-400) vs. MAD Lions (+285)

G2 Esports and MAD Lions have less to play for in the sense that neither of them will have to play in the Worlds Qualifying Series but will still have high stakes as the higher the seed they’ll have going into Worlds, the easier their route to the Grand Finals will be initially.

Fans and oddsmakers see G2 as the favorites by far in the match after they were able to win two of the three splits this year.

Their absolute dismantling of Team BDS has given the entire League of Legends community faith that this is yet another year of dominance for the historically great organization.

MAD Lions won’t back down from the challenge and has the best chance of taking down the surging G2 Esports, as MAD Lions is the only other team to have won a split this year.

They made easy work of their opening-round opponent, Excel Esports, in a 3-0 master class. They’re going to have to continue to be at the top of their game going into this next match.

They look to have shaken off their Summer Split performance, which didn’t go as well as they were hoping, ending the split in 7th place.

If this team plays like their Spring Split versions, there is a very real chance that they give G2 Esports a run for their money this weekend.
