Complexity Sign Triggers Down, Enter Halo Infinite

Complexity Gaming officially entered Halo Infinite on Thursday, December 16, signing the Triggers Down roster. With that, the North American esports organization acquired a veteran Halo lineup, led by Jacob “Hysteria” Reiser.

Complexity joined the long list of prominent esports organizations that entered Halo esports. As revealed on Thursday, Complexity will compete in the 2021/22 Halo: Infinite season with a new roster, formerly of Triggers Down.

This, however, is not Complexity’s first entry into the Halo scene, nor is it the first time the organization will sponsor Triggers Down. Complexity originally sponsored the team when it first entered Halo in 2011.

Although Triggers Down fielded a much different roster back then, Hysteria was the member of the lineup that will again fight under Complexity’s banner.

Joining Hysteria are Justin “Hunter Jjx,” James “TritoN” Bolling, and Joseph, Robert “Rob The Turtle” O’Connor. The roster is led by coach Zack “SeeSaw” Morris, who joined Triggers Down in November 2021.

“Halo is a legacy franchise and played a crucial role in esports early development in North America,” said Nick Ridgeway, Assistant General Manager at Complexity Gaming.

“Halo Infinite promises a new golden era for Halo esports. Bringing the Complexity brand back to the scene a decade later with this talented roster is a meaningful moment for the entire organization.”

Triggers Down first entered the Halo esports scene way back in 2005, as a team formed by Justin “SKHalogod” Mann. The team had a slow start to their campaign but found serious traction in 2008-2009 when they won six MGL tournaments and placed fifth at MLG Las Vegas Championships 2008.

The team would achieve respectable success in the next two years before disbanding in 2012. Triggers down eventually re-entered the Halo scene in November 2021.

The team re-entered the scene with an entirely different roster, with Hysteria as the only player who has returned to compete under TD’s banner.

Hysteria is one of the most well-known Halo esports players and a key member of TD, who he led to five MLG titles. As a captain of the team, Hysteria was also named Stride Championship Series Player of the Year in 2008.

His teammate, Rob The Turtle, joins Complexity with a 10-year pedigree of competitive Halo, having been in the scene since 2011. Most notably, he competed in Halo 5 and Halo: Reach.

Hunter Jjx has been competing in Halo since 2007 and was a member of some of the best teams in the scene. Rounding up the Complexity Halo roster is TritoN, mostly known as a Halo 5 player.

“The energy and excitement around Halo Infinite is a testament to the franchise’s staying power and the role it has played in the lives of millions of gamers, including myself,” said the team captain, Hysteria.

“Halo Infinite provides an exciting new chapter in my career and for the franchise at-large. To make my competitive reprise representing a brand like Complexity is a truly unique opportunity.”

Complexity re-signed Trigger Down to its Halo division during a time of competitive growth for the NA esports organization. Complexity recently signed a Call of Duty: Warzone team, a Rocket League roster, and an all-female Valorant squad.

“It’s a testament to the Complexity management team’s expertise in scouting organic gaming talent, recruiting players, and providing them the tools, resources, and guidance they need to succeed at the highest level,” read the announcement.

Complexity Halo esports squad will debut at the upcoming Halo Championship Series Kickoff Major Raleigh 2021, set for December 17-19. The tournament will feature 32 of the world’s best Halo teams, who will compete for the lion’s share of the $250,000 prize pool.
