Bovada is one of the few real-money esports betting sites to operate legally within the US and Mexico, making it a point of interest for North American gamblers. The Bovada website is well-designed and offers a good range of esports matches, but there are some problems too. The site is unlicensed, registration isn’t permitted in much of the world and its reputation is far from ideal. However, the site’s advantages could make it a sensible choice for some bettors. Actually getting to the esports section of the site takes some doing, but it should be easier with our instructions. First, open the hamburger menu in the upper left corner of the site, and select sports. Then hit the Sports button below the hamburger menu, and select All Sports. You’ll then be given a long scrolling list of sports, including ‘E-Sports’. Select that – and maybe bookmark the page so you can come back later without this particular rigmarole. From here, you can find the next few games for each of the esports offered.
Spread and moneyline betting is offered here, allowing esports bettors to select the match and map winner. Some proposition bets are tendered for tournaments, such as choosing the region of the winning team or picking teams to reach the final. Proposition bets are also available for some matches, including a vast array of options for certain League of Legends matches: first blood, first dragon, first tower, first Baron and first to ten kills. We’d like to see proposition betting offered for more games and matches in the future.
Bovada is unlicensed, which should be enough to attract some suspicion. Some esports bettors have reported success on the site, but others have worrying allegations of blocked withdrawals and other hassles. For that reason, approach the site with caution.
Withdrawals are on the extreme end of the slow side, with quoted times of 48-72 hours (pending), then five to ten days for bank transfers and seven to twenty-eight days for cheques (assuming anyone uses those anymore).
You can contact Bovada through a range of support options, most notably a live chat system available between 07:00 and 23:00 GMT. There are also backup options available, including an email-based ticket service and a toll-free American telephone number (1-888-263-0000). A comprehensive FAQ section is also available, and is probably worth a look if you have a common question rather than something specific to your account. Show less.
Bovada offer a nice range of welcome offers for new esports bettors from the United States. As always, it’s important to read the small print so have a look at that question mark sign below so you know the score.
