A Look at DreamLeague Season 22

Dota 2 is an esports game that doesn’t always get the most attention, but that hasn’t been the case over the last few days. That’s because DreamLeague Season 22 began at the end of the month, and that action is going to continue as we head into March.

Group Stage 1 just wrapped up, and a number of high-ranking teams were eliminated from competition. This is a sport that always seems to come with some upsets, but it was hard to predict what was going to happen to end February.

Group Stage 2 will take place from March 1 through March 7, and there are eight teams that are left competing for the title. Even though some great teams have already been knocked out, there are other great teams ready to battle it out.

Here is a look at some of the top teams that are left standing, and a look at the format for the rest of the action.

Four Teams Stand Out

Heading into Group Stage 2, Team Falcons has to be considered one of the favorites to win this title. This team came into this event with some momentum after picking up a title at the BetBoom Ducha Dubai 2024, and they are poised to get it done again.

The DreamLeague attracts teams from all over the world, and this team hails from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region. This is a team that has three of the best players in the sport, and everything seems to be clicking at the right time for this team.

Team Spirit always seems to be a contender in every single esports event, and it has been able to survive the crazy upsets that took place in Group Stage 1. This team has already racked up a pair of championships during international play, and they are trying to add to their legacy of one of the best Dota 2 teams of all-time.

Coming from Russia, the BetBoom Team is building up some momentum in the early stages of the DreamLeague Season 22. This is the top rival of Team Spirit, and that rivalry is going to be something to watch as Group Stage 2 takes place to begin the month of March.

There simply isn’t going to be a Dota 2 tournament that takes place in which Xtreme Gaming isn’t going to have a legitimate chance to win. The Chinese team has racked up numerous tournament titles throughout the years, and they look like they are on a path to winning this event as well.

Wang “Ame” Chunyu is back with the Extreme Gaming team, and that has propelled this team to a ton of success so far in this event.

Big Matchups Coming

Over the next week, teams are going to be competing for a spot in the top two of their groups, and that will get them on the top half of the bracket. All eight teams will advance to bracket play, but the bottom two teams in each group will be required to win more games in order to come up with a title.

The BetBoom Team is currently sitting on top of Group A with 10 points, but that won’t matter now that the standings are going to reset. Each team will play three matches against other teams in the group, and it will be a best-of-three format.

While Group Stage 2 is going to be spread out over a week, the actually playoffs are going to be completed in just two days. The final match will be a best-of-five format, and it is expected to draw a massive crowd on the live stream.
