Europe’s Best in the Upper Bracket Semifinals

The Upper Bracket Semifinals comprise an all-Europe lineup. We break down each of the team's path so far in their pursuit of the Boston Major win.

The best of the Rocket League Championship Series from around the world have gathered in Boston for the Spring Split Major. Teams have their eyes set on gaining points before the Rocket League World Championship, which is coming up, proving Boston to be a pivotal battleground. After the first day of fierce competition, Europe has proven to be the region to beat, as all four teams remaining in the Upper Bracket are from the region.

European Ease

Entering the tournament, fans and oddsmakers alike had European virtually guaranteed as the lines closed at -200 for a European winner. So far, Europe has completely dominated the competition making anyone holding that betting ticket pretty happy. The only European team to have a loss so far is Team Liquid, who fell to Complexity Gaming in hard fought 3-2 match. Other than that, the Europeans have clean records going into Day 2.

Team Vitality

Team Vitality entered as many people’s pick to win the whole thing. They had an absolutely oppressive Spring Split dominating an already impressive European region. They opened their tournament with a dominant 3-1 win over Elevate. Though Elevate could take two games to overtime, Team Vitality was the better team, even winning one game 4-1.

Their next match against Complexity Gaming was great. Team Vitality opened up the match with a 3-0 win before Complexity won the next two games with 2-0 score lines. Team Vitality would then storm back to win back-to-back matches in overtime to secure their spot in the Upper Bracket Semifinal.

Team BDS

Team BDS has had the cleanest tournament of any team at the Boston Major, having lost only one game in their impressive run through the Upper Bracket. Their opening match against Gen.G Mobil1 Racing started on a scary note, losing the first game 4-0. They then bounced back, winning the next three 4-2, 2-1, and 3-2, all in regulation. Their next match was a 3-0 win against Rule One. Though Rule One was able to keep it close in the 1st and 3rd games, Team BDS was the better team. They now turn their attention to Team Vitality in the Upper Bracket Semifinal.

Karmine Corp

Karmine Corp was in instant danger as they fell behind Ground Zero in their opening match 2-0. They then battled back to win 3-2, but saying they felt the heat would be an understatement. Then they faced Spacestation from North America. They again lost the opening match but bounced back much sooner, taking down Spacestation 3-1.

Moist Esports

Moist came in at +1200 odds to win the Boston Major, and after one day, they now sit three matches away from pulling it off. They’ve had an absolutely stellar run so far, taking down FURIA Esports 3-1 in the opening round after losing the first game. They then took down OpTic Gaming 3-1, including two overtime wins. We will see if they’ll be able to close out Karmine Corp quickly in their pursuit of a Rocket League Major win.
