Mercedes-Benz to sponsor ESL Premiership Dota 2 Skirmish

Tournament organiser ESL UK has joined forces with Mercedes-Benz to announce a new dedicated Dota 2 tournament.

The new tournament will be called ESL Premiership Dota 2 Skirmish and run alongside the ESL Premiership to help identify emerging new talent from the UK and Ireland. The announcement did state that there is potential for Dota 2 to become a full Premiership title in the near future.

“The partnership between Mercedes-Benz and ESL has already proved to be hugely successful and has resulted in two incredible ESL One Birmingham tournaments for Dota 2 in 2018 and 2019,” said, James Dean, Managing Director of ESL UK. “Having Mercedes-Benz involved with the national tournament will see that same success replicated within the ESL Premiership. It also means a more varied offering for players and fans with even more communities involved.”

The ESL Premiership Dota 2 Skirmish will see the top 20 players (top 4 from each role) enter into a 4-week online tournament. Starting from Tuesday 22nd of October at 7 PM, players will be randomly put together into teams. Each player will then fight for their share of the £2,500 prize pool. The top two players from each role will then move onto play in the Live Finals on the Skirmish Stage at the ESL Premiership Finals.

ESL has confirmed that Dota 2 Skirmish was created to “help to reinvigorate the UK and Ireland Dota 2 scene, focusing the tournament around individual players rather than teams.”

The ESL Premiership Finals will take place in the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester on the 24th of November. The weekend will play host to the ESL Premiership CS:GO and Rainbow Six Siege Finals, and the ESL Premiership Dota 2 Skirmish Stage.
