The first Major of the 2021/22 RLCS season is set to begin on Wednesday, December 8, at ESL Sweden Studio in Stockholm, Sweden. The tournament will feature 16 Rocket League teams, who will be vying for the winner’s share of the $90,000 and 601 RLCS points.
The 2021/22 Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) kicked off in October with the first Regional Leagues. And now, just two months later, we’re already heading into the first Major of the year.
The last two months presented us with plenty of exciting matches across eight regions, as some of the world’s best Rocket League esports teams battled it out for the Major ticket. And while there was no shortage of close battles, it’s fair to say that the lineup heading to Sweden consists of only the world’s best teams.
The upcoming Fall Major will mark the first of three Majors of the 2021/22 season. It will get succeeded by the Winter Major in December and the Spring Major in June.
After the completion of the three RLCS Majors, the top-performing teams will earn a spot in the RLCS World Championship. The season-culminating event will take place in North America in July, featuring 24 of the best teams and a $2,085,000 prize pool.
The RLCS Fall Major will consist of some of the best teams in the world. Europe and North America both got five seeds, while Oceania and South America got awarded two.
Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific (APAC) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) both got to send only one team to the Major.
As we get closer to the RLCS Fall Major, all the eyes are on North America’s The General NRG. For the reigning North American champions, the expectations for NRG are nothing less than the Major title.
However, they will face stiff opposition from G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, and Team Vitality. Beyond that, the field will consist of Team BDS, Dignitas, and Endpoint CeX, who shouldn’t be overlooked.
Although all teams deserved their right to participate at the Major, not all are expected to shine. FURIA, Team Envy, and Ground Zero Gaming have all done well this season but are billed as the outsiders.
Likewise, the expectations on SMPR Esports, Complexity, Renegades, eRa Eternity, Sandrock Gaming, and Tokyo Verdy are low.
Still, this is the first international tournament of the year, and if the last seasons have taught us anything – anything is possible.

It’s hard to say which Rocket League esports team will win the RLCS Fall Major, And it doesn’t help that we have yet to see an international event this season.
However, if the esports bookmakers are to be trusted, Team General NRG will be the team to beat. The reigning NA champions travel to Sweden as the bookie’s favorite, priced at +200.
The closes team on the outright betting markets is G2 Esports (+550), followed by FaZe (+600) and Team Vitality (+700). Beyond that, we have Dignitas (+900) and Team BDS (+1000) as the only two teams who can be considered as proper contenders.
Admittedly, Endpoint CeX (+1200), FURIA (+1500), and Team Envy (+1800) have done well this season. However, they have yet to reach the status held by the top favorites.
Ground Zero Gaming (+1800), SMRP (+2500), Complexity (+2500), Renegades (+2500), eRa Eternity (+2500), Sandrock gaming (+3000), and Tokyo Verdy (+3600) are all priced as heavy outsiders. While those are some of the top teams from their respective regions, they will need a miracle to upset the field.
