Gamers8 2023 esports festival is slowly coming to an end, with just one more esports tournament left on the schedule. Kicking off on Thursday, August 24, the Gamers8 will host a Rocket League esports tournament, welcoming 24 Rocket League teams competing for the lion’s share of the $2,000,000 prize pool.
The Rocket League Gamers8 2023 tournament will kick off on Thursday, August 24 and run until the grand finals on Sunday, August 27. The tournament will welcome 24 Rocket League teams, most squads who attended the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2022/23 World Championship, including the reigning world champions, Team Vitality.
The tournament will be divided into two stages – the group stage and the playoffs.
The group stage will run from August 24-25, dividing the 24 teams int four double-elimination groups of six. All matches, including the upper and lower brackets, will be played as best-of-five (Bo5). The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs, whereas the bottom four teams get eliminated from the tournament.
All group-stage games will be played in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 game modes.
The Gamers8 2023 playoffs is set to kick off on Saturday, August 26, when pairing the winners of groups with a second-placed team from another group.
The playoffs will be single-elimination, with all matches, including the finals, played as best-of-seven (Bo7). The playoff games, like the group stage games, will be played in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3.
According to the Rocket League betting odds, Team Vitality (+175) are the main favorites to win the Rocket League Gamers8 2023 tournament, and rightly so. Vitality have been phenomenal this season, particularly since the start of the spring split.
They’ve won all three European RLCS regional tournaments, conquered the RLCS Spring Split, and won the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship earlier this month. With that, Vitality earned their spot in the hall of fame as the first team in history to not only win all three regional events in a single split but also the Major and the World Championship.
Priced close behind Team Vitality on the outright betting markets are Team BDS (+550), which sounds right. Vitality’s regional rivals haven’t won as much as the Bees this season, but they have accomplished a lot and only really struggled against Team Vitality.
The same holds true for Karmine Corp (+650), who finished the RLCS World Championship in third-fourth place after they got eliminated by Team Vitality (2-4) in the semis. A month prior, KC also placed third at the Spring Major, where they also got knocked out by Team Vitality.
Even though Team Vitality proved to be stronger than KC and BDS this season, the gap between the three European teams isn’t as big as it may seem. However, when we compare BDS, KC, and Vitality to the rest of the field, there’s a huge difference in quality.
So, even though anything can happen, Gamers8 2023 seems like another Rocket League tournament, which will come down to three names – Team BDS, Karmine Corp, and Team Vitality.
