Overwatch League team Seoul Dynasty acquired a new flex support Kim “lr1s” Seung-hyun, who joined the team on Monday, August 22. The 21-year-old moved to the Korean esports organization from Houston Outlaws.
Ir1s has officially joined Seoul Dynasty on Monday, August 22, where he’ll continue his esports career, which started in March 2019. Ir1s made his first professional appearance with meta Athena before joining Going Water and Far East Society in July 2019.
With Far East Society, he has attended just one tournament in Overwatch Contenders 2019 Season 2: Pacific, where he reached the semi-finals before leaving the team for Guelang Penlil. At the start of 2020, Ir1s teamed up with Third Impact, where he has made his first Overwatch Contenders appearance, helping the team win Contenders 2020 NA Season 1 Trials – Week 1.
During his North American trip, Ir1s attended a plethora of Contenders tournaments and has achieved some success, namely winning Contenders 2020 NA Season 1 – Week 2 and Week 4. He also helped Third Impact finish runner-up in Week 3, and led the North American organization to a silver medal at Overwatch Contenders 2020 Season 1: North America.
After proving his worth in the Contenders League, Ir1s got picked up by Atlanta Reign for its Overwatch League roster, and he hadn’t disappointed with his showings. With Atlanta Reign, Ir1s won two bronze medals at Overwatch League 2021 – June Joust and Overwatch League 2021 – Countdown Cup, and placed fourth at Overwatch League 2021 – Summer Showdown.
Moreover, he has helped Atlanta Reign to the organization’s best season finish, reaching the finals of Overwatch League 2021 – Playoffs, where Reign lost to Shanghai Dragons. But despite his success at Atlanta Reign, Ir1s left the team at the end of the season and joined Houston Outlaws, where he has failed to reach the same heights.
Houston Outlaws have not achieved any notable success this season, placing top-six at Kickoff Clash and seventh-eighth at Midseason Madness. But regardless of the team’s shaky performances, Ir1s remained a standout player.
Ir1s joins Seoul Dynasty as the only singing of the 2022 season and only their second roster change of the year. However, his arrival is part of a swap deal, which sees Ir1s change places with Kim “Creative” Young-wan, who left the team for Houston Outlaws.
The player swap marks only the second roster move in Seoul Dynasty, who parted ways with Sung-hyeon “JJoNak” Bang in February but have otherwise kept its six-man lineup intact.
The roster change comes following Seoul Dynasty’s poor showing in Overwatch League 2022 – Midseason Madness, in which they finished ninth-12th. However, despite their disappointing run at Midseason madness, Seoul Dynasty did well at the start of the year, winning Overwatch League 2022 – Kickoff Clash with a 4-0 sweep of Philadelphia Fusion.
Most recently, Seoul Dynasty entered the Overwatch League 2022 – Midseason Madness, where they haven’t achieved much yet. The Korean Overwatch team lost both their opening series against Huangzhous Spark (0-3) and Atlanta Reign (2-3), crashing out of the event in ninth-12th place.
But the squad bounced back with a strong start to the Overwatch League 2022 – Summer Showdown, winning their opening two games against the Spark and Chengdu Hunters, topping the Eastern division standings.
Now, having bolstered their squad, the Dynasty look set to end the Summer Showdown strong, as they acquired one of the best flex support players in the scene. Ir1s will make his debut for Seoul Dynasty on Thursday, August 26, when the Dynasty will clash with Los Angels Valiant in Week 17 of the 2022 OWL season.
