Zyphon Leaves Copenhagen Flames

Copenhagen Flames confirmed the departure of Rasmus “Zyphon” Nordfoss on Thursday, August 4. The 18-year-old leaves the team as the final member of Copenhagen Flames, who parted ways with its entire roster over the last two months.

The departure of Zyphon marks the end of Copenhagen Flames, who have now parted ways with its entire Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster after the organization was unable to provide the necessary support for the Danish squad. The whole process started back in June.

Copenhagen Flames lost its first two members on June 1, when CPH waved goodbye to Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen and Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi. The Danish duo left the team to join Fnatic, which started a domino effect with more team members leaving Copenhagen Flames shortly after.

Just two days later, Copenhagen Flames also parted ways with head coach Daniel “Vorborg” Vorborg, who left to join Evil Geniuses as a part of another major roster rebuild. It wasn’t more than three weeks later that Copenhagen Flames waved goodbye to Jakob “Jabbi” Nygaard, who joined Heroic as a replacement for Ismail “refrezh” Ali, who has since remained on the bench.

By the end of June, Copenhagen Flames was left with only two active members on the team in Zyphon and Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen, but even they did not need long to find a new home.

As rumored over the last few weeks, HooXi is nearing a move to G2 Esports, where he will replace Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen, who was allowed to explore his options last month. Although the deal has yet to be finalized, G2 are expected to make the announcement shortly.

Likewise, it seems like Zyhphon has also found a new team to call home. In the announcement of his departure from Copenhagen Flames, the 19-year-old has said that he has good news coming soon, suggesting he has already signed with a new team.

Zyphon joined Copenhagen Flames in May 2021 alongside Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen and HooXi, who joined from MAD Lions, rounding up the Danish roster, which would achieve immense success over the season.

Most notably, Copenhagen Flames placed top-11 at PGL Major Stockholm and reached the playoffs of the PGL Major Antwerp earlier this year. Even though Copenhagen Flames have not won either of the two Majors, the team has done enough to earn respect and peaked at no.9 in the global CS:GO rankings.

Moreover, CPH did well in other CS:GO tournaments. They won Pelaajat.com Nordic Masters: Spring 2022 and PGL Major Antwerp 2022: European RMR B and claimed silver medals from Pinnacle Winter Series #3 and Pinnacle Cup III.

But unfortunately, despite the team’s success, Copenhagen Flames decided to part ways with its roster. Initially, Copenhagen Flames wanted to sell the entire lineup, but after failing to find a buyer, the roster split up and went its separate ways.

Despite the unfortunate ending to the promising Danish CS:GO team, it seems like all members have already found a new home.

RoeJ and nicoodoz have both signed for Fnatic, Vorborg joined Evil Geniuses, while jabbi has signed for another Danish team, Heroic. HooXi has yet to officially find a new team to compete for, but he has been heavily linked with G2 Esports.

Meanwhile, Zyphon’s next destination is still a mastery, but as stated by the young CS:GO player, he has some exciting news to share, indicating that all six members of Copenhagen Flames have their futures secured.

Zyphon has been one of the top-performing players of CPH, averaging a 1.06 rating since he joined the team in 2021, and has averaged a 1.09 performance rating over the last three months.
