The professional League of Legends league in Japan, the LJL, is preparing to get into its second week of action on the rift. Matches in the LJL are best of 3, and the first week saw all the teams compete, giving fans an early idea of where all the teams stack up.
Though the LJL is considered to be one of the weaker leagues in the world, the historic run that DetonatioN FocusMe had at Worlds 2021 is still fresh in the minds of all LJL players and fans who hope and believe that their team will be able to do the same this year. If you’re a fan of competitive League of Legends, you need to be watching LJL, as there has never been a better time to be a fan of the Japanese League.
In week one, Sengoku Gaming looked phenomenal as they absolutely trashed DetonatioN FocusMe. Sengoku Gaming took the match in an easy 2-0 off the back of their mid and bot lanes, who both dominated. Sengoku’s ADC LokeN looked like a Zeri god going 10/1/5 in the first game, followed by a 5/0/5 performance in the second. Enty had two flawless games on Yuumi, going 0/0/17 and 0/0/11. All the while, Jett held down the mid-lane securing 11 kills over the two games.
In the second match of the season, Crest Gaming Act jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over Burning Core thanks to Cassin’s amazing performance on Vi as he went 8/0/4 securing the first game for his team. Burning Core’s jungler CaD would respond with a flawless game himself, going 1/0/11 on Maokai in game two as Burning Core tied the match 1-1. In the final game, Crest Gaming defied the odds, winning while down significantly in gold, kills, and objectives. Crest was able to find a great team fight at the end and closed out the exciting match with a 2-1 victory.
AXIZ won their match against V3 Esports 2-0 in what was a disappointing outing for V3. AXIZ crushed game one easily. However, V3 fought back in game two and had a sizable lead, and despite getting two barons to AXIZ’s zero, they still found themselves with a defeat screen in what had to have been a heartbreaking game.
In Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming 2-0 win over FENNEL, the HAWKS showed they are capable of winning from anywhere. In the first game, they utilized top-side pressure to get the win, thanks to Kinatu and Blank’s performance. While in the second game, the HAWKS won off of Marble’s 8/0 Draven performance. The HAWKS are in for a great year if they can keep having performances like last week’s.
