European League of Legends fans can rejoice as the LEC returns to domestic play as the start of the LEC 2023 Summer Split is set to get underway starting this weekend. This is the start of the third and final split of the 2023 competitive season for the EMEA league and will last six weeks. With games running Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the LEC has you covered with all your weekend entertainment needs. Lock in a bet or two, sit back, and watch the best that Europe has to offer battle it out on the Rift.
Despite an incredibly poor showing at the Mid-Season Invitational, G2 Esports and MAD Lions sit as two of the top teams when it comes to futures lines in the betting odds. Both teams lost in the first round of the Main Bracket and were forced to face off in the Loser’s Bracket. G2 Esports found a dominant 3-0 before losing their next match against the LPL’s Bilibili Gaming, who eliminated G2 from the tournament with a 3-1 win.
Being in the Main Bracket was already an accomplishment for G2 Esports, who had to qualify through the Group Stage. They had a flawless run through Group B, beating both LOUD and PSG Talon 2-0. This was a boost to a team that had just finished 4th in the LEC Spring Split playoffs and was only at the tournament due to their win in the Winter Split much earlier. Expect G2 Esports to carry that same confidence that they had into this split as they show what they learned competing against the World’s best at MSI.
MAD Lions is tied for the second-best odds to win the split after having a miraculous run through the Spring Split postseason and winning the split outright. MAD Lions squeaked into the Group Stage, claiming the final spot after finishing the Spring Season with a 3-6 record. MAD Lions would lose their first match to Team Vitality before making a run through the lower bracket defeating Fnatic, Astralis, G2 Esports, and Team Vitality before taking down Team BDS in the finals.
Team BDS is tied with MAD Lions for the second-best odds of winning the split. They had a great Spring Split ending with a 7-2 record that gave them the top seed going into playoffs. They had an easy time through the Upper Bracket before falling to MAD Lions in the Finals. Expect them to come into this split looking to finish what they started in Spring. Regardless of the result, they’ll leave it all on the Rift as a chance to go to the League of Legends World Championships will be on the line.
