Record Number of Viewers

The LEC Winter Split 2024 was recently held, and it’s clear that League of Legends is now more popular than ever. Things have been trending in that direction, but more viewers tuned into the most recent matchup than what had ever been seen. 

There were over 600,000 people that tuned in for the season opener, and that shattered the previous record by over 50,000 people. That could set the stage for a record-breaking year, and it should also allow more people to get involved in playing League of Legends as well. 

Fnatic and Karmine Corp were battling in the first matchup of the season, and this was a highly-anticipated matchup. It likely wouldn’t have mattered what teams were playing as viewers were simply looking for a chance to get back to watching this sport. 

This could be two of the top teams in the league this season, and the first battle lived up to the hype. Fnatic is the longest standing team in the league, and they are a team that is always in contention to win a title. 

Karmine Corp has seen some changes to their team over the last 12 months, as they combined different teams in order to form this new unit. That had more fans interested as they wanted to see how things would play out in their first battle of the year. 

Map Changes in 2024

A new year comes with a new map update, and it’s one that has some players frustrated after only being available for just a few days. Patch 14.1 saw several changes to the Rift and one of the past champion’s kit has been completely removed, and it seems that it was done by accident. 

Illaoi has been a popular legend in the game, and she was someone that came with a win right of slightly more than 50%. This new update put the win rate down to just 45%, and players are already upset that they no longer can use her for a chance to win. 

Not only was this a character that many players looked to use throughout the game, but Illaoi had also become one of the most popular in the game. That is no longer the case as players are only looking for those legends that provide the best opportunity to win. 

There were other updates that will be discussed and pointed out over the next few weeks, but this was the most noticeable right away. 

New AD Item Added

The Experimental Hexplate was added to the game last year, but it wasn’t one that many players figured out how to use. This new AD item is now going to be a bigger focus during the 2024 season, but players are still trying to gather all of the key detail surrounding it. 

It won’t be long before players really figure out how to use this new item in battle, but there is one thing that is already clear. For players that are able to figure it out, it has given them a chance to take complete control of a battle against their opponents.
