Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club Takes Down Bilibili Gaming

The LPL Season is underway, and the usual suspects are at the top of the standings. We break down the top teams in the standings.

The 2023 Summer LPL Split is in full swing and is already delivering the drama that esports fans worldwide have come to expect from the Chinese league. Following their successful campaign at the Mid-Season Invitational, every LPL team is extra motivated to be the ones to bring home another World Championship for the region. Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club, the champions of MSI 2023, are proving that they’re still the best team in the world after toppling Bilibili Gaming, who still appears to be the 2nd best League of Legends team internationally. However, teams like TOP ESPORTS and Xi’an Team WE still have plenty of time to make themselves known.

Bilibili and JDG

The finalists from MSI have come back and are having absolutely great runs so far this split. Though Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club lost in the opening week to WeiboGaming FAW AUDI, they’ve since bounced back, not losing since. Bilibili Gaming is having a great split, currently at 6-1. Their only loss is to JDG, which isn’t a bad loss on the record. The only question is, will Bilibili Gaming ever be able to surpass JDG?

TOP ESPORTS and Xi’an Team WE

TOP ESPORTS opened up their season with a 2-1 loss to Suzhou LNG Esports but have since gone on a seven-match winning streak putting them in a tie for first place with JDG. They already have impressive wins like WeiboGaming FAW AUDI and Shenzhen NINJAS IN PYJAMAS. Plenty of League of Legends left to play, so they could easily dethrone JDG.

Xi’an Team WE only has played four matches so far, but they’ve won them all. They currently sit in 4th place in the LPL standings, but they could easily shoot up the rankings with two more matches this week. Time will tell if Xi’an Team WE is for real or just a result of a small sample pool.
