The Modern Warfare III era of the Call of Duty League is finally upon us as the qualifiers for the first Major of the year started last week. All of the teams will be making their way to Boston, where the Breach will be hosting the first event of the season. However, the seeding of the bracket will be based on how the teams perform online during the Major Qualifiers. The action has only begun, but you can already tell this will be a fun and competitive year. You can catch all of the games live on both Twitch and YouTube this weekend.
The Seattle Surge have surged their way to an early lead in the standings after pulling off an impressive 2-0 last weekend. They entered the weekend as underdogs in both matches, as fans and oddsmakers alike didn’t know what to expect from this brand-new roster. Seattle proved already to be a strong opponent with a map score of 6-2 in dismantling the Los Angeles Thieves and Boston Breach. This week, their only match is against the Atlanta FaZe, who most believe to be the best team in the Call of Duty League. If they are able to pull off the upset, they will prove to be the most dangerous Call of Duty team in the world.
Atlanta FaZe entered the season as the favorite to become world champions at the end of the year with an absolutely dominant lineup that is picking up right where they left off last year. They opened the tournament with a very competitive match against the Boston Breach that went 3-2 before absolutely demolishing the Los Angeles Thieves 3-0. This week, they’re also only competing against Seattle, who is sure to put up a good fight. You’re going to want to tune into the stream on Saturday as the schedule delivers another great match-up right away.
The Boston Breach entered the season with much anticipation, knowing they’d have the privilege and honor of hosting the first major of the season. They started off their season with a strong showing against one of the best teams in the league in Atlanta. However, the next day, they would get torched by Seattle. They have quickly found themselves at 0-2 and will need to find some success against the Los Angeles Thieves and Toronto Ultra this weekend if they want to make up some ground in the standings.
