The 2024 calendar year might be just underway, but there has already been some great action in the Call of Duty League. That is only going to continue this week and into the weekend as the first major of the year is set to take place.
While the best action is going to begin on January 25th, there have already been some qualifying matchups taking place. This is some of the best Call of Duty action in the world, but there wasn’t a ton of drama in the qualifying stage.
The Call of Duty League Major One bracket is now set, and those pairings were made after the qualifying matches took place. Once again, all of the battles in the Call of Duty Major will be streamed on the league’s YouTube page, but fans are encouraged to check out the watch parties as well.
Here is a look at some of the teams that have already been performing well, and some of the best matchups to check out.
There can always be some surprises when Call of Duty matches take place, but that hasn’t really been the case up to this point. Three different teams entered 2024 as the favorites to dominate the league, and those teams didn’t waste any time in stepping up to begin the year.
The Atlanta FaZe are going to be a team to watch this year, and all that team did was go a perfect 7-0 in their first seven matches. They weren’t the only team that performed well though as two other top contenders suffered just one loss a piece.
New York and Toronto are veteran teams that have proven themselves in this league, and each team was great in qualifying round. It wasn’t a shock to see these three teams playing well, but there is a newcomer that looks like it could contend.
Miami is going to be a team to watch out for at the Major One in Boston as they stunned OpTic Texas in one of the qualifying rounds. OpTic Texas is always a team with solid betting odds to be successful, but they have not been playing well.
Now is when the matches really start to matter though, and the bracket is set up to have some incredible drama.
There are eight teams currently sitting in the winner’s bracket, while four other teams are waiting in the elimination round. The top eight teams can have one loss and still be crowned champion, while the bottom four teams are going to have to be perfect in order to stay in contention.
The Atlanta FaZe will kickoff Major One by taking on the Los Angeles Guerrillas, and Atlanta is a major favorite in that one. The winner of that battle will move on to take on the winner between Miami and Texas.
There are some great matchups in the bottom half of the bracket as well, but each matchup does have a clear favorite. Toronto Ultra is favored over Seattle Surge in one of the quarterfinal matches, while the New York Subliners are favored over Minnesota Rokkr.
The four teams that are currently sitting in the bottom half of the bracket include: Los Angeles Thieves, Vegas Legion, Boston Breach, and the Carolina Royal Ravens. Of that group, the Vegas Legion appear to have the best chance to make a run.
All of this action is set to wrap up on January 28th, meaning the teams will only have to push hard for a couple of days to be crowned the champion. This is just one of the majors that will take place throughout the year, but every team wants to get things started in the right direction.
