The first weekend of the Call of Duty League Major II qualifiers is in the book, and we look towards this upcoming weekend, in which we will get our second weekend of play with plenty of competitive matches as teams try to separate themselves from the pack with all eyes towards the tournament in Boston.
With seven out of ten teams having at least one victory, and half of them undefeated fans can expect an extremely competitive week 2 of play. Odds makers agree, as this week’s odds opened with some pretty close lines. You’ll be able to catch all of the action live on Call of Duty’s twitch channel.
It’s no surprise to anyone that the Toronto Ultra is off to a fast start. They’re currently the only team in the tournament to be sporting a 2-0 record while only dropping one map in their two matches. They’ve been heavy-betting favorites in all their matches so far, and you can expect that trend to continue into Week 2.
The Atlanta Faze is another team that turned heads. Currently sitting 1-0, they are the only team in the tournament that has yet to lose a map. They’ll be riding that momentum going into their match with Minnesota on Thursday.
Coming into the tournament, many were wondering if the New York Subliners would be able to repeat as Major Champions, and many believe that they still can after a dominating 3-1 win over the LA Thieves, putting them at a solid 1-0 record going into Week 2. Expect absolute fireworks in the weekend finale between the Subliners and the previously mentioned Atlanta Faze.
The Las Vegas Legion shocked the Call of Duty community when they beat the Seattle Surge 3-2, coming in as underdogs. While many still don’t know what to make of this team long term, no one can dispute the fact that this team is dangerous, and we will know more after their match against the Breach.
Rounding out the undefeated squads is OpTic Texas. As long as there is competitive Call of Duty is played, you know that OpTic will be competing and the ever-loyal “Green Wall” will be cheering nonstop. OpTic was able to beat a good-looking Boston Breach squad taking the undefeated Breach to all five maps before sealing the deal in the fifth, ending their week 1-0.
