The Brazilian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team, 00Nation, announced the signing of Marcelo “coldzera” David. The news surfaced on Monday, January 3, unveiling coldzera as the first of three rumored additions 00Nation are expected to make heading into the 2022 season.
Coldzera found a new home at 00Nation on Tuesday amid reports of a complete overhaul of the Brazilian squad. While the 27-year-old remains the first and only signing 00Nation has made, two more changes are set to occur in the coming weeks.
The Brazilian CS:GO esports pro joins 00Nation after a turbulent period of his career. As a member of FaZe Clan, coldzera found himself benched from the team in June 2021 in favor of Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer and has remained sidelined for three months.
In September, coldzera got picked up by Complexity Gaming, who acquired him as a stand-in. But unfortunately, coldzera’s two-month stint didn’t net any positive results.
Complexity struggled to deliver in the latter stages of 2021, leading to a complete roster overhaul. And as a result, coldzera got cut from the squad, once again leaving him teamless.
But regardless of his lack of success over the last year, coldzera was given another shot at proving himself. This time with at 00Naiton, where he will spearhead the all-Brazillian lineup.
According to recent reports, 00Nation wasn’t coldzera’s first choice. He was supposed to link up with his former Luminosity and SK Gaming teammates Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Lincoln “fnx” Lau.
The quarter were supposed to team up in a new Brazillian project dubbed “The Last Dance”, hoping to relive their glory days. But it’s believed that coldzera decided to choose another path due to disagreement about who will round up the roster.
The Brazilian CS:GO esports pro arrives at 00Nation as one of the most recognizable names in the scene. And while success was hard to come by for him in recent years, coldzera has retained the tag as one of the most accomplished Brazillian players in history.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a highly successful career, mainly as a member of SK Gaming and Luminosity, with who he won two Major titles. Beyond that. Coldzera was also recognized as the best player in the world in 2016 and 2017.
As a veteran figure, coldzera comes off as a perfect addition to 00Nation’s young core of players. It remains how much of an impact coldzera will have on the young squad, but his addition makes a lot of sense.
It also confirms that 00Nation is building a roster that will be able to compete for the highest marks by the end of 2022. However, they’re still far from achieving that status.
The change make a lot of sense for an organization that has lacked success since its inception. As a team that came together as the O PLANO project in early 2021, 00Nation struggled to make much noise in the CS:GO scene.
They had some flashes of greatness early on, but notable success was hard to come by for the Brazilian squad, leading to a roster overhaul, which began in October.
At the time, 00Nation parted ways with Henrique “HEN1” Teles and Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles, with more roster changes expected to happen shortly. As reported, at least two more players are set to leave the team to make room for new arrivals.
Although nothing is confirmed yet, Santino “try” Rigal and Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa are expected to join 00Nation in the coming weeks. The duo are rumoured to replace Vito “kNgV-” Giuseppe and Alencar “trk” Rossato.
More news about 00Nation’s roster should emerge by the end of the month. The Brazilian team will have six players in its active lineup until then.
