League of Legends continues to be one of the most popular esports titles worldwide, and it is a game that has leagues everywhere throughout the world. The LCK takes place in Korea, and that league is currently dealing with a string of DDoS attacks.

DDoS stands for distributed denial-of service, and the LCK is not the only league that has been dealing with these attacks. What is making this a bigger issue is the fact that the LCK Spring Split 2024 is currently taking place, and these attacks are impacting the live action.

LCK broadcasts have been impacted by these attacks, and the league is doing all that it can to protect the top players and teams. Nothing seems to be working though, and it has been very noticeable on the live streams as players are sitting around frustrated.

There is now some concern that these attacks are going to impact the outcome of the Spring Split, and it could force an undeserving champion to be crowned. If a resolution isn’t found, LCK teams could ultimately be kept from competing at the international level as well.

Timeline of the Attacks

This is something that the LCK has been dealing with for some time and it was on February 28th when the first real issues were recognized. There were two matches that had to be stopped on that date as there were chronic pings in each match that kept things from progressing.

At that time, the league did what it could to move forward with the broadcast, but that just wasn’t going to happen. It was then that the league met to try to figure out the issue, and how to prevent this from happening moving forward.

The best solution at the time was switching to offline servers and also pre-recording matches, but that upset the fans. There were also some rules about live attendance as the league was worried about what was taking place in the arena.

After the league believed that it had solved the issue, it agreed to move things back to online servers in March. There were some additional security measures in place to keep these attacks from impacting the top matchups, and things seemed to be going off without a hitch.

While there were still some smaller attacks taking place, the LCK was confident that none of the Spring Split battles were being impacted. That might have been the case, but T1 was experiencing some serious attacks that ultimately had an impact on their performance.

Fans Blaming Attacks

T1 was one of the betting favorites to have a dominant performance at the LCK Spring Split 2024, but it was another early exit for this team. It was Hanwha Life Esports that knocked them out, and fans of the team believe that it was a lack of practice time that kept the team from moving on.

While the DDoS attacks were still noticeable throughout the action in Seoul, T1 was dealing with these issues on a personal level. This team continued to make complaints about these attacks impacting their practice matches, and that could have impacted their preparation.

As soon as word spread about the attacks targeting T1, this team was unable to find other teams that would battle them for practice matchups. Players of T1 have been working hard to even find a way to play LoL, and that certainly created a distraction.

The team did acknowledge these attacks when talking about their performance at the Spring Split, but they didn’t make many excuses. This ongoing problem needs to be solved soon or the LCK could be in serious trouble.
