Another week of intense Korean League of Legends is in the books as the LCK teams race toward the playoffs. Though a majority of the teams going to playoffs are determined, the seeding for playoffs is still up in the air. That means League of Legends fans can expect fireworks here in the last two weeks.
T1 had an easy 2-0 week this past week as they took on two of the worst teams in the league in BRION and Kwangdong Freecs. Faker has led yet another T1 squad to the peaks of the LCK, and this squad looks absolutely unstoppable as they strike fear in all international teams hoping to compete against them later in the year. This week they will look to avenge their earlier loss to Hanwha Life Esports as they meet again in what is sure to be a thrilling match.
Gen.G remains in second place despite a disappointing 1-1 week that saw them beat BRION 2-0 but falling to kt Rolster 2-1. This could spell trouble in the playoffs for this Gen.G team, who has struggled at times this split. Their match against Liiv SANDBOX will tell us about the trajectory for this team as we near the end of the season.
Dplus Kia had a great 2-0 week last week, beating DRX and the surging Hanwha Life Esports. This puts Dplus Kia in a comfortable position as they sit in a tie for second place as they wait for Gen.G to slip further in the standings. With two easy opponents in BRION and NongShim REDFORCE you can expect Dplus Kia’s win streak to continue.
The loss to Dplus Kia caused Hanwha Life Esports to slip to fourth in a tie with kt Rolster. Kt Rolster got to fourth by getting a 2-0 last week. This upcoming week we will see the two battle it out for fourth place in what should be a great match of League of Legends.
STANDINGS
Dplus Kia (10-4)
4. Hanwha Life Esports (9-5)
kt Rolster (9-5)
6. Liiv SANDBOX (8-6)
7. BRION (4-10)
8. Kwangdong Freecs (3-11)
DRX (3-11)
10. NongShim REDFORCE (1-13)
My match of the week is the rematch of T1 and Hanwha Life Esports on Saturday. I mean c’mon T1 taking on the only team to beat them this year! This game is going to be electric. We already know that Faker will be trying extra hard in this one, and Hanwha Life Esports really needs this win when it comes to the standings. This is going to be a can’t-miss match, even if it is early in the morning.
