ESL Pro League Season 18 Playoffs First Round Starts

Four weeks of hard-fought Counter-Strike has led 16 teams out of the Group Stage and seeded them all into the Playoffs Bracket.

The winners of each group (Team Vitality, Natus, Vincere, ENCE, and G2 Esports) have all been seeded into the Quarterfinals, while the runner-ups (Complexity Gaming, BIG, Movistar Riders, and FaZe Clan) have all been seeded into the round of 12.

Leaving all of the teams that qualified via the Middle and Lower Brackets to battle it out in the opening round of the playoffs.

Fnatic vs. Monte

  • Odds: Fnatic (-135) vs. Monte (+105)

The opening slot of matches sees Monte and Fnatic clashing in the opening round of the playoffs. Fnatic made it out of Group C via the Middle Bracket after taking a loss in the second round of the upper bracket to FaZe Clan.

Fnatic took down Apeks in a 2-1 match to secure their spot in playoffs. Monte took the last playoff spot in Group B via the Lower Bracket. After a slow start to their tournament with losses to BIG and MIBR.

In the Lower Bracket, they were able to turn it around with wins over MIBR and Heroic, one of the top-rated teams in the ESL CS:GO Standings.

Astralis vs. Eternal Fire

  • Odds: Astralis (-190) vs. Eternal Fire (+145)

Astralis and Eternal Fire are the other matches that will kickstart the playoffs on Tuesday morning. Astralis had a rough start to the tournament, losing a 0-2 match to Ninjas in Pyjamas in the opening round of Group A.

They had great success in the Middle Bracket, making an impressive run, not dropping a single map as they dismantled ORKS, GamerLegion, and FURIA Esports in three 2-0s to secure their spot in playoffs.

Eternal Flame took their first loss of the tournament to Cloud9 0-2 in the opening round. They found a win in the Middle Bracket against 9INE but were quickly sent to the Lower Bracket by Virtus Pro in the following match.

There, they made a run that included wins over Cloud9 and Team Liquid to secure the final spot in Playoffs from Group D.

MOUZ vs. FURIA Esports

  • Odds: MOUZ (-185) vs. FURIA Esports (+140)

The 12th-ranked MOUZ and 17th-ranked FURIA Esports will be taking on each other in the playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.

MOUZ secured their place in the Playoffs via the Middle Bracket in Group B after losing their opening match to MIBR. In the Middle Bracket, MOUZ didn’t drop a single map, taking down Evil Geniuses, Heroic, and MIBR in 2-0 matches.

FURIA Esports found themselves tumbling into the Lower Bracket after going 1-2 in their first three matches with a win over Grayhound and losses against Ninjas in Pyjamas and Movistar Riders.

In the Lower Bracket, they were able to find wins over Grayhound again and then GamerLegion to secure the Group A Lower Bracket Playoff spot.

Virtus Pro vs. 9z Team

  • Odds: Virtus Pro (-750) vs. 9z Team (+450)

Virtus Pro enters the opening round of the playoffs as the biggest favorite to win in the tournament. They had a tough road to the playoffs, taking down Team Liquid twice and Eternal Flame while coming up short against G2 Esports.

They face 9z Team, who lost their first two matches against FaZe Clan and Imperial Esports.

In the Lower Bracket, they took their game to a new level, taking down M80, Apeks, and 5yclone to secure a spot in the playoffs. Can the miracle run continue? You won’t want to miss the action when the world finds out.
