Evil Geniouses is reportedly pursing Valdemar “valde” Bjørn Vangså to round up its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster. The reports surfaced on Thursday, December 30, unveiling EG’s new potential roster.
As reported on Thursday, the Danish CS:GO esports pro, valde, is nearing a deal with Evil Geniuses. The 26-year-old is said to leave OG by the end of the year and travel overseas to round up EG’s CS:GO roster.
At Evil Geniuses, valde will team up with Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov, and his former Cloud9 teammates in duo Jake “Stewie2K” Yip and Timothy “autimatic” Ta.
Although the deal has yet to be finalized, there’s a good possibility it could come through, as Evil Geniuses look to start anew in 2022. Meanwhile, joining EG would give valde a chance for a fresh start.
Valde made his professional CS:GO debut in February 2016 with PRIES, but struggled to find a permanent home early on. By the end of 2016, valde played for five different teams in Team Singularity, Copenhagen Wolves, unu.AiN, and Team X, before he landed in Heroic in August 2016.
The Dane spent the next 11 months with Heroic before he left for North in August 2017. Valde remained with North for over two years, and while the team achieved plenty of success, everything came crashing down in 2019.
A streak of disappointing results led North to bench its entire roster in October 2019, leaving valde and his teammates without a team. And while valde had spent nearly two months on the sidelines, he eventually found a new home at OG, who picked him up in December 2019.
Over the next two years, valde led OG to numerous tournament titles, but it seems like his tenure with the European squad has come to an end.
Evil Geniuses is set to build a new CS:GO esports roster, a process that began in November 2021. At the time, EG parted ways with Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz, Owen “oBo” Schlatter, and Michał “MICHU” Müller in a bid to start fresh.
But the organization remained relatively quiet about its future plans until recently when reports unveiled how EG’s new roster might look like.
As it stands now, Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov are the only two active members of the team. The duo joined EG in September 2019, when Evil Geniuses acquired the entire NRG Esports roster and are said to continue with the North American esports organization in 2022.
Although nothing has yet to be officially confirmed, Brehze and CeRq will likely team up with Stewie2K, valde, and autimatic.
The first rumors of Stewie2K and autimatic joining Evil Geniuses appeared just over a week ago. According to the recent reports, the negotiations are going well, suggesting the North American duo could be officially confirmed as EG’s newest members in the coming weeks.
Stewie2K was last seen playing for Team Liquid, who went through a major roster overhaul this offseason. Meanwhile, autimatic has not been involved in the CS:GO scene since February 2021.
He was last seen playing for Gen.G Esports before he left to compete in Valorant. But after spending the last ten months Valorant, the 25-year-old decided to return to the scene he was a part of since 2014.
While EG’s roster looks to be locked in, what will happen with OG remains to be seen. With the departure of valde and Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen nearing a transfer to G2 Esports, OG will likely look much different heading into 2022.
If the rumors prove to be true, Evil Geniuses’ 2022 CS:GO roster will consist of:
