Layoffs Impacting League of Legends

The esports industry is bigger than it has ever been before, but that doesn’t mean that some of the companies aren’t going through some tough times. Riot Games just recently had to lay off more than 500 employees, and it could end up having a massive impact on League of Legends action.

The esports industry is bigger than it has ever been before, but that doesn’t mean that some of the companies aren’t going through some tough times. Riot Games just recently had to lay off more than 500 employees, and it could end up having a massive impact on League of Legends action.

This was supposed to be a big year for League of Legends when it comes to the professional level, but it now seems as if a major update is not going to happen. Riot Games has not confirmed or denied any reports or complaints from players, but updates have been slow to be released.

Riot Games confirmed at the start of 2024 that Shyvana was going to get a rework, and this had a number of players and fans excited. Once the news of the layoffs was announced, many of the former employees stated that they were a part of that team that was working on the new release.

Nothing is going to be official until word comes down from Riot Games, but players have been waiting for the rework to be set out on the game. It is possible that Riot Games was able to get the work done before the layoffs, but a simple announcement could ease the fears.

While some of the other top esports games have already gotten off to a big start in 2024, the action on League of Legends has been slow. This game is one of the top priorities for Riot Games, and it would make sense for that company to protect its asset.

Worries Continue About K’Sante’s Presence

There will be time to worry about the failed reword of Shyvana if that actually happens, but pro players currently have a major concern. K’Sante is one of the more recent champions added to the league, but his presence has now made the game a bit boring for players and viewers.

Pro players continue to choose K’Sante, and the champion continues to inflict incredible damage on opponents. Fans that check out the live streams at the pro level claim that this makes everything boring and too predictable.

This is something that developers are going to have to look into because he has been chosen over 60% of the time at the highest level. Not only does this make the action boring, but it doesn’t test the players that are actually using the champion.

Some pro players are also speaking out, including those that have been using K’Sante to rack up the wins to begin the year. It’s not necessary to completely remove this character from the game, but adjusting the damage levels would keep things more unpredictable in nature.

League of Legends Getting Passed Up

League of Legends is not going to be a game that ever fades away completely, but a recent study shows that it’s no longer a top option. According to a report from Game Pass, Palworld has now become a more popular choice than League of Legends.

There are some catches to this report as many people are simply choosing Palworld from Game Pass as a way to try out the game first. That game is not one that is going to be played at a high level, and average esports players aren’t going to see huge events on streams.

Not only has Palworld passed up League of Legends in downloads on Game Pass, but it has moved past Minecraft and Valorant as well. The developers of that game are now going to be trying to cash in on the momentum, and there could soon be some leagues that pop up.
