LEC Welcomes Back Live Audience For 2022 Summer Split

Riot Games announced that the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) would open its doors to the public for the Summer Split. The news confirms that the Berlin LEC studio will run at full capacity for the first time since 2020.

Back To Live Events

The LEC will welcome back fans to the LEC Studio in Berlin, Germany, for the entirety of the LEC 2022 Summer Split. This will mark the first time since 2020 that the European LoL league will be opening its doors to the public for the regular season.

Throughout the last two seasons, the public was not allowed to watch their favorite League of Legends teams compete in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But following the triumphant return of fans for the LEC 2022 Spring final, Riot Games decided to give live events a gree light.

Since 2020, the teams competing in the LEC were able to compete on the stage but had to alternate stage times due to safety restrictions. However, that’s about to change with the LEC 2022 Summer.

As revealed, all games will take place in the LEC studio, and all ten teams will be playing on LAN in front of a live audience. Moreover, there won’t be any restrictions for anyone attending the event except for needing to wear a mask.

Riot announced the news on Thursday and also revealed that the ticket sale will go live on Friday, June 10, on the official website. As revealed, the tickets will cost 12€, while anyone can purchase a maximum of four tickets at a time. Unfortunately, there are no two-day tickets, meaning they need to be purchased separately.

Nevertheless, that’s hardly an issue for any LoL esports fan who has been waiting to see Europe’s top teams compete in person.

LEC 2022 Summer Kicks Off On June 17

The 2022 LEC Summer season is confirmed to kick off on Friday, June 17, with the opening round of games. As every season before, the split will begin with a super week, featuring three consecutive days of League action, with five games a day.

The LEC will welcome back 10 League teams from LEC 2022 Spring, including Fnatic, G2 Esports, Rogue, MAD Lions, Team Vitality, SK Gaming, Misfits Gaming, and Team BDS. The teams will compete over eight weeks in a double round-robin.

The top six teams of the regular season will then advance into the LEC 2022 Summer Playoffs, while the bottom four get eliminated. Riot Games has yet to reveal the LEC 2022 Summer Playoffs dates, but according to previous seasons, we can expect the final stage of the league to kick off in mid-August.

Barring any changes, the LEC 2022 Summer will use a double-elimination bracket with the top four teams from the regular season seeded into the winners’ bracket and the fifth and sixth-placed teams in the losers’ bracket.

Each of the playoffs games will be played as a best-of-five (bo5), including the finals. The top three LEC 2022 Summer Playoffs teams will also receive a ticket for the 2022 League of Legends World Championship, which is returning to the United States for the first time since 2016.

LEC has, alongside LCS, received three seeds for the LoL Worlds,m with two Group Stage and one slot in the Play-Ins. LPL and LCK both have four seeds with three Group Stage slots and one Play-In slot.

With the season yet to begin, it’s tough to say which teams will qualify for the LoL Worlds. But based on the latest betting odds, Rogue, Fnatic, and G2 Esports are in the best spot to claim the three tickets.
