LEC Winter Split Regular Season Comes to a Close

LEC Winter Split Regular Season play came to an end last week. The Group stage is now at hand as LEC action heats up.

The 2023 LEC Winter Split Regular Season has come to a close after three weeks of some amazing League of Legends action. With the new split formats this year, we saw one of the most unforgiving regular seasons from any of the major regions as all teams played each other only once, meaning every mistake counted. With the dust settling, we now look toward the Group Stage as the remaining teams fight for a spot in the Winter Playoffs.

LEC Standings

MAD Lions enter the Group Stage coming off of a 3-0 weekend. The stellar week helped them secure a top seed in Groups. Expect them to be able to ride the momentum going into next week with the most important games yet to be played.

Another team that had a good week, much to everyone’s surprise, was KOI, who went 2-1 this past week. Though their win over Astalis and loss to G2 Esports were both expected outcomes, no one foresaw them beating the best team in the league Team Vitality. KOI will take the new found confidence into their match this week against SK Gaming in a match many think KOI can win.

Astralis came in last week at the bottom of the standings and played their way into 8th place to qualify into groups. They took destiny into their own hands, upsetting SK Gaming on the first day and beating Fnatic on the second to put themselves in a qualifying position. Astralis not only proved their doubters wrong but has created doubters in the SK Gaming camp, as many wonder if they are as good as their 6-3 record would lead one to believe.

  1. Team Vitality (7-2)
  2. MAD Lions (7-2)
  3. SK Gaming (6-3)
  4. G2 Esports (6-3)
  5. Team BDS (5-4)
  6. Team Heretics (4-5)
  7. KOI (4-5)
  8. Astralis (3-6)
  9. Fnatic (2-7)
  10.  EXCEL (1-8)
