LPL Preparing For Jam Packed Week 5 Schedule

The LPL has a week full of 3 match days providing high-level League of Legends entertainment this week. We break down the tie for first place in China.

The LPL has started its 5th week of competitive play in the 2023 Summer Split. Teams have only two more weeks of regular season play after this one, so every match counts as they move their attention to the postseason seeding. Only the Top 10 teams will get to play in the LPL playoffs, competing not just for the title of LPL Summer Champions but also for the chance to represent China at the League of Legends World Championships.

Tied at the Top

Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club only played one match in Week 4. However, they didn’t need multiple matches to make a statement as they found an impressive 2-0 win over the current 3rd-place team TOP ESPORTS. This marks an important win as Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club now has beaten both Bilibili Gaming Pingan Bank and TOP ESPORTS, the two teams they’re most likely to find themselves in a tie with.

Bilibili Gaming Pingan Bank is currently in a tie with Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club with an 8-1 record, with their only loss being to JDG. Bilibili Gaming is scheduled for three matches this week in which they could take the lead away from JDG. The race for first between these two teams is being watched closely internationally as everyone views the LPL as the best League of Legends region in the world after the dominant display at the last international event.
