LPL Summer Final Set: LNG Esports vs. JDG

After a long, hard-fought Summer Split, only one match remains to determine who the best League of Legends team in the LPL is. Suzhou LNG Esports and Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club will battle it out in one last best of five to determine who will be China’s first seed at the World Championships in Korea later this year.

Will Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club be able to maintain their grip on the LPL, or will Suzhou LNG Esports be able to pull off a giant upset for the record books?

Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club

Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club has been the consensus number-one team not just in China but in the world. They started their 2023 campaign with an absolutely killer Spring Split ending the Regular season with a 13-3 record which, with tiebreakers, gave them the top seed going into the postseason. There they were, unstoppable, crushing the Upper Bracket on their way to the LPL title.

At MSI Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club showed more of the skill that got them to that stage as they crushed North America’s Golden Guardians and fellow LPL representatives Bilibili Gaming to get to a legendary meeting with Korea’s T1 in the Upper Bracket final.

JDG Intel Esports Club was able to take the 3-2 win over T1 before securing the first international title of the 2023 season, taking down Bilibili Gaming in the MSI Finals.

The celebration didn’t get to last too long as their first match of the LPL Summer Split was just around the corner, and it didn’t go well for the JDG as they fell to WeiboGaming FAW AUDI 2-0.

They bounced back, though, and started going on a winning streak that included the team in first place at the time in Bilibili Gaming Pingan Bank. Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club sat tied with Bilibili Gaming for a majority of the season at the top of the standings before a loss to Invictus Gaming in Week 6 would cause JDG to end the season in 2nd.

Their first match of the postseason was a thrilling five-game match against Suzhou LNG Esports in which Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club was able to pull off a 3-2 win.

They then faced off against Bilibili Gaming Pingan Bank yet another time this year and were able to maintain their perfect match record against them, taking them down in a quick 3-0. They enter the finals as -285 betting favorites, but fans know anything can happen in League of Legends.

Suzhou LNG Esports

Even though Suzhou LNG Esports fell to Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club earlier in playoffs, this team will enter the finals undeterred and believe that they will be able to pull off an incredible upset. Behind the Group Stage MVP Scout, Suzhou LNG Esports has clawed back from an early loss to find themselves in the finals.

They took down TOP ESPORTS and Bilibili Gaming Pingan Bank, both in 3-1 matches in the lower bracket, showing that LNG is prepared to play at the top of their game.

They have entered both postseasons this year as the 3rd seed. In Spring, they finished in a tie for 1st place but lost out on the optimal seeding due to tiebreakers. This resulted in a quick exit from the tournament. Summer, however, has been a completely different story, as they are three game wins away from being LPL champions.
