Call of Duty League 2023 Major 5

Major Disappointment for Los Angeles Teams

The qualifiers for the 5th major of the 2023 CDL season are underway. We breakdown last week's action while previewing what this week has in store.

The Qualifiers for the Call of Duty League 2023 Major 5 started last week and brought nothing but disappointment for the city of Los Angeles. Teams from LA went 0-4 last week as the Thieves and Guerrillas fell to the bottom of the standings in the opening days of qualifiers. With two more weeks of matches to decide the seeding for the Major, you can expect teams to turn come out extra motivated by the scheduled Bounty Matches that offer an extra $10k to the winners.

Current CDL 2023 Major V Qualifiers Standings

The Toronto Ultra came out hot, winning their opening-day match against the Seattle Surge 3-0 before beating the Los Angeles Thieves the next day 3-1. Their only match this upcoming week is against OpTic Texas in what will be a hard test for both teams. You won’t want to miss when these two fan favorites go head to head.

OpTic Texas started the tournament with a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Las Vegas Legion. They were then able to take down Atlanta FaZe 3-0 on Sunday. This week they’ll match up against the always-game Seattle Surge before going up against the Toronto Ultra.

The Boston Breach had an exciting 3-1 win over the Minnesota ROKKR last week. They’ll look to see if they can’t get a nice little winning streak going here in Week 2 as they take on the Florida Mutineers and the Seattle Surge. Both of those teams are winnable matchups for Boston as they look to make a statement going into the tournament.

The Florida Mutineers had to wait till the last day of the first week to get their first game in, but they didn’t wait to deliver a very entertaining match as they went the distance against the Los Angeles Guerrillas in their 3-2 win. They won’t have to wait long to get back in action as they have matches the first two days of this upcoming week, facing off against the Boston Breach and Los Angeles Thieves, respectively.
