Polish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team AGO announced the signing of 18-year-old Łukasz “mwlky” Pachucki on Tuesday, March 8. The young rifler joins AGO as the final missing piece of the rebuild process, ahead of AGO’s appearance at ESL Pro League Season 15.
Mwlky has officially signed for AGO on Tuesday, becoming the seventh member of the Polish CS:GO team. The addition of mwlky comes shortly after AGO announced the signing of another Polish CS:GO player in Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak, who joined the team on February 21.
Ultimate and mwlky are the only two additions AGO have made this year, and the first signings since the Polish squad added Denis “Grashog” Hristov in October 2021.
The youngsters join the team after a period of stagnation for AGO, who have struggled to achieve much over the last six months. The Polish squad reached no.23 spot in the global rankings back in August but have since made no progress.
A streak of iffy showings and lack of success saw AGO drop down the ladder, where the team currently occupies no.107 spot. This marks the lowest AGO have been since January 2021.
It remains to be seen what caused AGO’s decline, but the tough period began shortly after the departure of AWPer Miłosz “mhL” Knasiak, who left for MOUZ NXT in October 2021. As a result, the team initiated a roster rebuild, which AGO finalized with the addition of mwlky on Tuesday.
AGO finalized its new CS:GO roster just a couple of weeks before AGO will appear in the ESL Pro League Season 15, for which they qualified by winning the third season of ESEA Premier Europe. Although AGO aren’t expected to win the ESL Pro League, the team has high hopes to make a splash.
“We are heading in the right direction to rebuild the team. I’m glad that finally, we have mwlky with us,” said Arek Madenski, AGO CS:GO Division Manager.
Mwlky joins AGO as a former member of Illuminar Gaming, which he was a part of since July 2021. Unfortunately, the youngster hasn’t gotten much playtime at Illuminar, who moved him to the bench in September.
Nevertheless, mwlky has since helped the Polish squad in a handful of games and even made appearances as a stand-in for other rosters. Most notably, mwlky helped Ambush place top-three at SiGMA Esports Technologies Cup 2021 Closed Qualifier and placed first-second at REPUBLEAGUE Season 3 V4 Open Qualifier with a stack named fullshock.
Over his stint with Illuminar, mwlky has played only seven matches and has averaged a 0.94 rating. However, he has averaged an impressive 1.13 performance rating over the last three months.
By proving his worth in some lesser leagues, the 18-year-old now has a chance to re-launch his esports career with AGO, who added him as a substitute player. Although it remains to be seen whether mwlky will get called up to the main roster, he will serve as a vital part of AGO’s future project.
“This is another step forward for me. I’m very happy that x-kom AGO noticed the potential in me. I hope we will show good CS together. See you on the server,” said mwlky.
AGO will debut its new-look roster at ESL Pro League Season 15 later this month. The team’s debut is slated for March 30, when AGO will clash with the reigning Major champions and the current no.1 team in the world, Natus Vincere.
Besides NaVi, AGO’s group will also feature Heroic, Complexity, Astralis, and Evil Geniuses, who round up a very tough group for AGO to make out of. AGO have yet to confirm their final lineup, but for now, mwlky remains as a substitute player, alongside Damian “Furlan” Kislowski.
