League of Legends is an esport that has continued to grow in popularity throughout the world, but that’s especially true in the country of Brazil. The CBLOL Split One just recently wrapped up, and the final matchup for that league just set another viewership record.
One thing that helped this league set a new record was the fact that there were two great teams battling it out, but this has been a trend over the last few years. The 2024 CBLOL Split One grand final featured PaiN Gaming and LOUD, and there were 455,000 peak viewers for this matchup.
Not only did this season set a record for peak viewership, but it shattered the previous record of 416,000 that was set all the way back in 2021. There were other events that were extremely popular, but it was this matchup that really had the fans excited and ready to tune in.
While that does set an all-time high for this league, it still doesn’t compare to some other leagues around the world. Still, the competition was intense for the championship of the Spring Split, and the champion also earned a spot in a major international event.
A Massive Matchup
Brazilian fans of League of Legends likely would have tuned in regardless of what teams were competing in the championship, but it helped that two legendary teams were squaring off. These teams were not only competing for a league title, but a spot in the Mid-Season Invitational was on the line as well.
Fans were treated to a terrific battle in the finale as well as the matchup went to all five games. In the end it was LOUD that came away with a win over PaiN Gaming, and there were some great battles throughout the five games.
PaiN Gaming was actually trying to pull off a massive upset in this matchup as LOUD has been the most dominant team in this league. By winning again over the weekend, LOUD has now won four straight league championships dating back to 2022, and all of those wins have come against PaiN Gaming.
While LOUD has been dominant in this part of the country, they are now looking to take the next step. This team has won just six games in 20 tries in other international competitions outside of league play in Brazil.
A Look at MSI 2024
LOUD Gaming is going to be one of the teams set to compete in the MSI 2024, but they are not going to be among the list of betting favorites. This is one of the best esports events of the entire year as the top LoL teams from across the world are set to battle it out.
There will be a nice little break for LOUD Gaming before this event begins as the action doesn’t start until May 5. There will be a two week stretch of some great LoL action as the champion will be crowned on May 19th.
Play-in stage will be the first step to this competition, and teams from around the world will be battling it out. Bracket stage will come next, and that is when some of the best LoL teams in the world will start to be eliminated.
The bracket stage will take place in a best-of-five series format and the event will be a double-elimination style tournament. Fans from around the world are expected to attend the MSI 2024, and there will also be many ways to stream the live action.
LOUD Gaming will have a shot to win this event, but they have their work cut out for them as well.
