Swedish esports organization, Ninjas in Pyjamas, has assembled a female Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster on Tuesday, September 6. As revealed by NiP, the female CS:GO division will consist of players from GODSENT and Copenhagen Flames.
As of Tuesday, Ninjas in Pyjamas field an all-female Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster, featuring some of the best female CS:GO players in Europe. The newly-formed lineup has been assembled from former Copenhagen Flames and GODSENT players, who will now team up under a new banner.
NiP fe will be headlined by the Copenhagen Flames duo in Jennica “jenkon” Sjögren and Tilde “7licious” Byström, who will team up with three former GODSENT players in Marita “Minnie” Siljan Sørensen, Thea “pullox” Evensen, and Mayline-Joy “ASTRA” Champliaud.
Notably, the ex-GODSENT trio in Minnie, pullox, and ASTRA have recently finished the inaugural ESL Impact season, where they narrowly missed out on qualifying for the LAN finals. Moreover, they were present at ESL Impact Valencia, which they reached with a strong showing in the open qualifiers.
Unfortunately, GODSENT fe weren’t able to make much noise in Spain, where they lost to MiBR fe and CLG Red in the group stage and missed out on the playoffs. Regardless, Minnie, Pullox, and ASTRA have proven themselves as one of the biggest talents in the female CS:GO scene, a status they will be able to work on under a new banner.
7licious and jekon, on the other side, haven’t achieved much during their stint with Copenhagen Flames. However, they have proven their worth, having averaged a 1.05 and 1.27 performance ratings over the last three months.
For the newly signed quintet, joining Ninjas in Pyjamas marks an opportunity for a fresh start under one of the most storied esports organizations in the scene. Although all five have achieved some success in their previous teams, joining NiP sets the squad up to establish itself as one of the top female CS:GO teams in the world.
“I’m super proud to be a part of this lineup, and I can assure you that with some time, we will show the world what we can do. NIP has always been close to my heart, and to have the opportunity to play under such a legendary org is just a dream come true, but the job is not done yet,” said 7licious.
Ninjas in Pyjamas Fe are set to debut in the ESL Impact League Season 2: European Division, slated to kick off on Thursday, September 8. The tournament will run until October, when the top two teams will qualify for the LAN finals, set to take place on November 25-27 in Jonkoping, Sweden.
“NIP is making a monumental move by entering ESL Impact. It is a step in the right direction, a way for us to showcase that greatness and talent has no bounds,” said NiP CEO Hicham Chahine.
At ESL Impact League Season 2: European Division, NiP will join some of the top European female CS:GO teams in BIG EQUIPA, NaVi Javelins, MostValuablePlayers, SUL CLAN, Entropiq Queens, NOFEAR5, and the reigning ESL Impact League champions Nigma Galaxy Female.
At the tournament, NiP have been seeded alongside Nigma Galaxy Female, Entropiq Queens, and NOFEAR5 in Group A.
Only the top two teams from each group will then advance into the playoffs. There a single-elimination format will be used to determine two finalists who will secure a spot in LAN Finals, which will welcome the top eight CS:GO female teams from Europe, NA, South America, South Africa, and Asia who will duke it out for the lions’ share of the $123,000 prize pool.
