The creators of World of Warcraft wasted no time organizing the Mythical Dungeon International (MDI) Shadowlands Cup tournament season. Global Cup 3 is scheduled for Friday, February 26 through Sunday, February 28. Games will be broadcast live on YouTube throughout the weekend.
The first two Cups were held at the end of January and beginning of February. Team Perplexed defeated Echo to capture Cup No. 1. Then in Cup No. 2, Echo defeated Perplexed to win the tournament.
The odds seem to suggest that Echo and Perplexed are the best Warcraft teams in the tournament. Neither team lost a match until they faced each other in the finals. The other teams in the field are looking at an arduous task to unseat the top two teams.
Eight of the best teams battle in a best-of-3, double-elimination tournament. Teams will compete in time trials as they attempt to defeat a series of 4 bosses. The fastest cumulative time is declared winner of the match. The maps and the bosses change in each match.
The participants will win cash prizes and Warcraft MDI points for competing in the four different cups. Eight of the best teams will be selected for the Season Finals where $300,000 will be up for grabs.
Betting odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
Echo (-120): The odds say that team Echo is the favored team. Echo has faced team Perplexed twice this season in the both Cup’s finals. There’s no doubt that Echo will be in the finals again this tournament. Echo has managed to emerge from the lower bracket in both tournaments. Overall, Echo is 1-3 against Perplexed in the Warcraft Cups so far.
Perplexed (+120): This team has played almost flawlessly through the first two Cups. They’ve only lost one match to Echo in the Cup 2’s final. It’s a bit of a travesty that odds place Perplexed as an underdog to Echo. Perplexed is 3-1 against Echo in the through two Cups, and hasn’t spent any time in the lower bracket.
PI ME (+1200): PI ME (and all the other teams) will need to find a way to compete with Echo and Perplexed. PI ME has managed to progress in the lower bracket despite losing in the first round of both Cups. PI ME has been pushing their luck and will need a stronger start to compete for the finals. They’re 5-4 through two Cups.
Does Gargoyle Stream (+2000): Another Warcraft team that can’t seem to match Echo and Perplexed. They seem to get stonewalled in the second or third round. Does Gargoyle Stream can win matches, but it’s unlikely they’ll go all the way. They’re 3-4 through two Cups.
Golden Guardians (+2500): Unfortunately for the Golden Guardians the deck seems to be stacked against them. They seem to struggle with consistency and haven’t won more than a single consecutive game. They’re 1-4 through two Cups.
