OpTic Texas Continues to Dominate Major 2 Qualifiers

The last week of the Call of Duty League Major 2 Qualifiers is this weekend. We review the state of the league and what to expect this week.

The second week of the qualifiers for the Call of Duty League’s 2023 Major 2 saw the competition heat up with some incredible matches. When the dust finally settled, seven of the twelve teams either had a winning or even record. With all teams having played at least three matches, we are starting to get a better idea of where all the teams are right now, and the anticipation is building as we go into the last week of qualifiers.

Teams to Watch

Currently, OpTic Texas sits at the top of the standings with a perfect 3-0. OpTic had great results this past weekend going 2-0, which included a dominant 3-1 win over the other top team right now, the Toronto Ultra. These amazing results came days after long-time star player for OpTic Seth “Scump” Abner retired after the first week of qualifiers. Fans were left to speculate how the team would perform. Having proven the roster change hasn’t affected their lethality in-game, OpTic now prepares for the 1-2 Las Vegas Legion and 2-1 Atlanta FaZe in their last week of Major 2 qualifiers.

The Toronto Ultra is also sitting with 3 match wins. What has made it even more impressive is the dominant fashion in which Toronto is winning, having a collective 9-1 map record in their wins. Toronto’s only match this weekend is against the LA Guerrillas in what odds makers think should be an easy win for Toronto. If Toronto succeeds, they’ll be feeling great heading to Boston as a top seed.

The Boston Breach is hosting Major 2, so you already know they’ll be coming in motivated to perform in front of their hometown crowd. The Breach’s upcoming schedule is pretty easy, seeing as their two opponents this weekend are collectively 1-6. Boston’s squad is good and will deserve the seeding it earns; just remember going into the main tournament, this team hasn’t played the same level of competition as the others.

Standings, Schedule, and Betting Odds

Heading into the third and final week of qualifiers, you can expect every team to feel the heat still, as there is a large pack at the top of the standings battling for seeding for the Major, taking place in Boston at the beginning of February. Expect high-level, competitive Call of Duty matches this weekend as the teams prepare to battle for Boston. All times listed are in ET.
