Sengoku and SoftBank HAWKS Battle for 1st in LJL

With the top two teams in Japan meeting, Super Week gets an extra meaning.

The competitive League of Legends scene in Japan is about to heat up as the two top teams in the LJL are set to meet this week as Sengoku Gaming takes on Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming. With both teams coming into this week with perfect records, League of Legends fans worldwide should be excited about this match.

Week 5 LJL Standings

As we near the halfway point of the regular season, teams at the bottom are starting to feel the pressure as their hopes of making playoffs start to slip away. V3 Esports, in particular, is feeling the heat as the team has yet to find its first win in 2023. This week will offer them plenty of opportunities as they take on Burning Core and Crest Gaming Act, two of the worst teams in the league. 

Sengoku Gaming comes into this week with a perfect 6-0 match record while having only dropped a single game in the streak of dominance. They are favorites to win the split, and for good reason, as they’ve looked unstoppable, having already beaten DetonatioN FocusMe, AXIZ, Burning Core, FENNEL, V3 Esports, and Crest Gaming Act. 

Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming looks to take down Sengoku Gaming while potentially protecting their own perfect record in the process. SoftBank HAWKS enter the week 5-0 after finding wins over FENNEL, V3 Esports, Crest Gaming Act, DetonatioN FocusMe, and AXIZ. They have the potential to be 6-0 on Friday when they take on Sengoku Gaming if they are able to secure a win against Burning Core on Thursday.

LJL Week 5 Schedule and Betting Odds

My first match of the week is obviously Sengoku Gaming vs Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming. This match is going to be for first place in the league and could play a large factor in seeding come playoffs at the end of the split. I expect us to see all three games in this cutthroat series. 

My next match of the week is FENNEL vs DetonatioN FocusMe. Both of these teams enter with two losses, but they’re both against the top teams in the league. This game will dictate who is third in the power rankings and could put either of these teams in a prime position to try and make a run for first place.

This week is a super week in the LJL, bringing with it an extra day of League of Legends action. With some teams playing multiple times in a single week, so large movements with the betting lines are not uncommon throughout the week. There is more LJL action this week than ever before, and you won’t want to miss any of it. All times listed are in Eastern Time.
