The competitive Japanese League of Legends season is in full swing. Going into Week 4, Sengoku Gaming and Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming both sit at the top of the standings with a perfect 4-0 record. Though there is plenty of time for any of the struggling teams to catch up to the front runners, it will take a lot of hard work and improvement for any of the teams to challenge the top two.
Sengoku Gaming has had a great start to its season. The team has only lost a single game on their road to a perfect 4-0 series record. Having already beaten Burning Core, DetonatioN FocusMe, FENNEL, and AXIZ, Sengoku will turn their attention to V3 Esports and Crest Gaming Act this week before having to play the SoftBank HAWKS next week.
Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming has also had a great start to their season and has only lost 2 games so far in their wins against Crest Gaming Act, DetonatioN FocusMe, FENNEL, and V3 Esports. This week sees them as the second-largest betting favorite in their match against AXIZ.
If anyone has a real shot at making a run against Sengoku Gaming and Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming, it’s probably DetonatioN FocusMe and FENNELL gaming. Both teams are 2-2, but their only losses are against the aforementioned teams. When they’re not playing the best in the league, they show signs of promise, and it’ll be interesting to see how they fare in the rematches in the second half of the season.
DetonatioN FocusMe was able to get secure their win against V3 Esports and against Crest Gaming Act, another 2-2 team. Meanwhile, FENNEL has found wins over AXIZ and Burning Core. Though not the most impressive of resumes they’ve looked doing it inciting hope in Japanese League of Legends fans.
STANDINGS
My first match of the week just so happens also to be the first match occurring this week. FENNEL vs Crest Gaming Act should be a fun one. Though oddsmakers don’t have much faith in Crest Gaming Act, the team has found two series wins this split already, proving they are capable of winning games. This clash of 2-2 teams will tell us a lot about where all the LJL teams stack up.
My other match of the week is Sengoku Gaming vs Crest Gaming Act on Sunday. This is a very important week for Crest Gaming Act as they have the chance to really shake up the standings in the Japanese League of Legends scene. Currently sitting in a prime position to have a major upset, all eyes will be on Crest Gaming Act to see if they can get the job done against the top team or if Sengoku will continue their dominant streak.
Regardless of what match you’re watching, you can’t go wrong with 6 matches of high-level League of Legends from Japan’s premier league. All times listed are in eastern time.
