Sengoku Gaming, The Last Undefeated Team in the LJL

Sengoku Gaming took down Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS last week to become the last remaining undefeated team in the LJL.

We are a little past the halfway mark of the LJL season, and so far, the Japanese League of Legends league hasn’t disappointed. In a season filled with absolutely thrilling matches, comebacks, and upsets, only Sengoku Gaming remains undefeated after their win over Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming last week.

Though they’ve had a run of pure dominance so far this season, Sengoku Gaming can’t get comfortable as they’re going to have to defend their spot in the standings against some fierce competition. With Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming having their eyes set on revenge and DetonatioN FocusMe starting to heat up, Sengoku Gaming is going to have to continue to play near perfectly if they want to stay at the top.

Current LJL Standings

Sengoku Gaming has had a very impressive season so far, as they’ve beaten every team once and FENNEL twice. They’ve only dropped 3 games so far in this impressive run that they’re making this year, holding a game record of 16-3. If they can continue this level of dominance while improving domestically, Japan may have found its best contender yet for international events.

Though Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming lost to Sengoku Gaming 2-1 last week, they still are a top team and could still find themselves in first place of the LJL come the end of the season. Currently, their game record is 13-6, and though they’ve dropped quite a few games, they’re consistent in their ability to clutch up when needed to find the match wins.

DetonatioN FocusMe is currently on a three-match win streak as they’ve started to heat up at the right time. With their only losses so far this year being against Sengoku and SoftBank HAWKS, this team has proven to be in the upper echelons of the league. However, they’ll have to find ways to overcome Sengoku Gaming and SoftBank HAWKS if they want to make another appearance at an international tournament this year.

LJL Week 6 Schedule and Betting Odds

My first match of the week is Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming vs DetonatioN FocusMe on Friday. This second meeting of these two teams comes at such a pivotal point as a win for Detonation FocusMe would put both of these teams in a tie for 2nd place. Oddsmakers have this one as a pick ‘em, and I completely agree either team could take this match. You won’t want to miss this display of top-level Japanese League of Legends.

My other match of the week is on Saturday between Burning Core and FENNEL. Burning Core is trying to move themselves out of the bottom two spots in the league before the end of the split so that they may qualify for playoffs. With FENNEL coming in off of back-to-back losses, this may be Burning Core’s best opportunity to move themselves up in the LJL standings.
