Fans of competitive Valorant around the world are preparing for China’s Ascension tournament, which is set to start this weekend. They are highly motivated to go out there and find a way to win the tournament, as doing so will secure their team a spot in the VCT: China League for not just this upcoming season but the season after as well. In theory, any of these teams could end up being World Champions by the end of the year, but it’s gonna have to start with a strong showing at the Ascension tournament. You won’t want to miss any of the action as the Group Stage which will run until the 25th, and you’ll be able to catch all of the action live on both Twitch and YouTube.
Rare Atom had a rough start to their 2023 season but started to turn it around later in the year. They’ve been at the top of the Valorant China Evolution Series to close out the year and are poised to do the same thing at the Ascension tournament. The roster of Ran “Viva” Lifan, Chen “YiHao” Yihao, Zhuo “MarT1n” Zhengjie, Park “stew” Young-Chan, and Chae “yoman” Young-mun have found themselves as the betting favorites heading in the tournament entering as -2000 betting favorites against KeepBest Gaming in their opening match and have the best odds to win the tournament outright.
Right behind them, with nearly the same odds as Rare Atom to take the whole thing, is Attacking Soul Esports, who currently has a +148 future line. Last year, the team was one of the better ones in the Chinese scene that still had yet to have a league. They earned the opportunity to represent the Chinese Region at the VCT: Tokyo Masters in June of 2023, and though they didn’t get the finish they would’ve liked, they got a ton of experience against some of the best teams in the world and then brought it back to help them dominate in the China Evolution Series. Fans can still expect great things from this roster consisting of Wang “Monk” Haoyu, Zhang “hfmi0dzjc9z7” Juncheng, Chen “YHchen” Yu-Han, Qu “Life” Donghao, and Huang “Yuicaw” Yung-Chieh.
The Ninjas in Pyjamas have the 3rd best betting odds to win the Ascension tournament, and though there is a big difference between them and Attacking Souls and Rare Atom in the betting lines, the Ninjas can still be plenty dangerous when they are in their groove. The team consists of Bryce “bryce” Lee, Yang “Eren” Cengwei, Wong “JayH” Jia Heng, Liu “Spring” Chn-ting, and Wong “YRSelect” Tsz Ting, who come from 4 separate homelands. Even though 2023 was a lighter year for the organization the hope to compete in the VCT: China League is alive and well.
