Fandom launches weekly Teamfight Tactics tournament

Entertainment and pop culture website Fandom has announced a weekly Teamfight Tactics tournament in partnership with Riot Games and sponsor, State Farm.

The tournament, named Fandom Legends: Teamfight Tactics (though why it wasn’t Fandom-onium we’ll never know!) will start on December 1st and run for four weeks. The event will be streamed live from Fandom Studios in Culver City, Los Angeles each week on December 1st, 5th, 12th, and 19th, culminating on the 21st of December with top players taking part in a Finals.

16 players have been invited to the league and each round will be fighting for their share of a $2,000 prize pool and if they make it to the finals, a $5,000 prize pool. With 16 people invited, we expect 2 rotating groups of 8 to give everyone a chance to play each other.

Specific players are currently unknown, so we’re unsure if they’ll be inviting streamers or allowing teams to qualify.

In a release for the event, Sean Kiely, Head of Gaming and Esports Sales at Fandom said:

“We look forward to growing our existing relationship with Riot Games in order to provide the Teamfight Tactics community with weekly tournaments. In addition to hosting known top players, we are opening a path for new and upcoming talent to make a name for themselves online. We are particularly excited to welcome trusted brand State Farm as a partner and supporter of the Teamfight Tactics community.”

This Fandom league could act as a solid viewership trial for Riot, after they announced their commitment to TFT esports starting in 2020. Fandom Legends: Teamfight Tactics will be broadcast live on Twitch.

With TFT only being an emerging esport, we are currently unaware of any sportbooks covering the event. If we hear of any sportbooks planning to put outright markets online we’ll be updating our site and social channels, so keep your eyes peeled!
