Caffeine Lounge to open UK’s largest esports bar

The UK is still catching up with the rest of Europe in mainstream acceptance of esports. But this is not for a lack of passion from the active, albeit currently comparatively smaller community.

In the past 12 months, Wanyoo branched out from Asia into the UK capital with great success. In that time we’ve also seen gaming chain “Game” launch a range of family friendly esports bars in-store, as well as a cluster of small esports cafe’s opened up across the nation. Aiming to top this existing offering, Caffeine Lounge have announced they are opening the UK’s largest, 2,800sq ft esports venue – aiming to provide “the perfect environment for esports teams, players, brands and sponsors”.

With an open-plan, contemporary design boasting over 50+ high-spec gaming PC’s, the new Suffolk based Caffeine Lounge will play host to internal and external esports tournaments, and a studio for live chat shows. For streamed tournaments, casters will also have dedicated booths to really amp up production value.

Speaking with Caffeine Gaming founder, William Ward, he said:

“We’ve created an awesome bar and lounge where people can come and hang out with their friends, or hit the gaming area for some immersive action. We plan to hold streaming of live gaming events, run our own competitions for local teams and broadcast live the Caffeine Gaming show.”

The question most people will be asking, is that specs will the gaming PCs be running? Will they offer Ultra mode graphics at 144hz? Or will we freeze sporadically whilst staring at indistinguishable pixels?

Fortunately for us, it looks like it will be the former. The lounge will benefit from 50+ high-spec PCs, as well as 50 PS4s to allow for large scale LAN tournaments to be hosted regularly. The PC spec’s were outlined as follows:

  • i7 9700k
  • RTX 2080
  • Z370 Motherboard
  • 16GB DDR4 30000MHz
  • 1TB M.2
  • 144Hz Monitor 1ms 1440p

If all goes to plan, this should be a PC gamer’s dream. Whether you’re a streamer, a caster, a semi-pro gamer or just someone who likes to have a drink and socialise, then it will definitely be worth a visit.

The Lounge will be opening in Summer 2019, and we’ll be looking to attend the opening event to bring you some insider snaps and information.
