EPIC Events Announces Epic League Dota 2 Tournament

The effect of the COVID-19 outbreak was widespread and affected every sector, not leaving out the esports industry. As a result, the competitive scene for Dota 2 has been really quiet. Its crown jewel, The International which is a very prominent tournament was postponed, leaving a void in the competitive scene. Fans of other games like the League of Legends are lucky as they have something to look forward to making the best of what is left of their competitive year – Worlds 2020.

EPIC Esports Tournament

It has fallen on tournament organizers to host online tournaments in a bid to keep the scene active. EPIC Esports Events has been working underground in a bid to bring some life into the scene for the Dota 2 fans. The result of the efforts made by EPIC is the announcement of another top-tier event with a $500,000 prize pool.

They took to Twitter to make the announcement, and it reads, “Today we are happy to announce the Epic League tournament by Epic Esports Events! A legendary battle awaits us! Prize pool: $500,000. Schedule: 3rd November – 13th December”.

The Omega League was the non-DPC second tournament to hit over 400,000 peak viewers had EPIC Events as one of its organizers. EPIC Events is known for delivering amazing Dota 2 quality as well as overall production genius. Dota 2 community has rendered praises on the organizers for a continued quality service provision.

The Omega League had an ancient Rome theme that was very exciting to witness. The Dota 2 community has not stopped talking about it as they anticipate the Epic League. Without a doubt, fans are excited to see what EPIC Events comes up with and will unlikely be disappointed. Some teams competed safely from the comfort of their homes, while others were camped in a studio (adhering to all of the necessary health measures). This formula was delivered a seamless gaming experience with little or no technical issue.

Some teams that will be partaking in this tournament have also been announced by EPIC Events, while others will join in through the qualifiers. Currently, the number of invited players stands at eight. To make it to the main event, those who make it through the open qualifiers will eventually slug it out in the closed qualifiers.

The teams invited are:

  • Team Liquid
  • Virtus Pro
  • Team Secret
  • OG
  • Alliance
  • Vikin.gg
  • Team Nigma
  • Natus Vincere

The Virtus Pro main squad has been inactive in the last month. Another iteration of the Virtus Pro team, the Virtus Pro Prodigy, has been getting exceptional results in recent times. We are not sure which will make an appearance as the organizers have not disclosed that yet. However, we are sure to experience some competitive game regardless.

The inactivity of Virtus Pro main roster came righter after a couple of roster shuffle leaks that surfaced in the CIS Dota 2 scene. It is rumored that Igor “ILTW” will be joining a new stack while Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev will be headed home to replace him. For this to be possible, the Russian star, Roman, will have to leave the American club “Evil Geniuses”.
