The ESL Pro League Season 20 Playoffs is in full swing, and teams jockeying for position have been competing tooth and nail to get that much closer to the finals. As of this writing, the quarterfinals are on the way, with exceptional CS2 teams duking it out to advance the brackets.
Here are some quick results from the action between talented CS2 teams on the ESL Pro League Season 20 Playoffs so far:
Eternal Fire has been riding a hot streak following their win against The MongolZ during Round of 12. This was a much needed win after their 0-2 performance against Natus Vincere during the Group A stage.
After their win against The MongolZ, one of the favorites to go far during the playoffs, Eternal Fire battled Team Vitality in the quarterfinals. Team Vitality was one of the winners in Group D along with Team Liquid, and were poised to improve their standings on the bracket.
With Team Vitality holding a spot on the Quarterfinals, Eternal Fire is gunning to topple them over. This was evident during their matches. The first one saw both teams battle on Anubis, where Eternal Fire eked out a 14-16 win.
However, on the Nuke stage, Team Vitality came around and wrestled a commanding 13-5 win over Eternal Fire. The deciding round was held in Inferno, and Eternal Fire managed to rally back from the previous round to ultimately rout Team Vitality, 22-20. With this win, Eternal Fire advances to the Semifinals.
MIBR, the 1st runner up in Group B, faced off against M80, the winner of Group C. MIBR was coming off a win against Heroic in the Round of 12, 2-1. Meanwhile, M80 held a spot in the Quarterfinals with their win against Imperial Esports during Groups.
This momentum proved to be pivotal as MIBR managed to win 2-0 over M80. The first map saw both teams compete in Anubis where MIBR had the edge by winning 13-10. M80 tried to rally in the second match which saw them battle it out in Ancient.
However, MIBR proved to be the better team on this occasion, as they bested M80 and finished with a commanding 13-8 score. MIBR’s win lets them advance in the semis where they will face off against Eternal Fire.
The other matchups that are still scheduled for the Quarterfinals include G2 Esports battling Team Liquid, and Natus Vincere against Team Spirit.
G2 Esports was part of Group B and had a great run to land the top spot which helped them secure a Quarterfinal spot. This includes beating MIBR, 3DMAX, and KOI.
Meanwhile, Team Liquid was part of Group D and had a decent run, defeating ENCE and Virtus.pro until falling to Team Vitality for second place. Their performance awarded them a spot in the Round 12 where they beat Complexity.
Natus Vincere was the top performer in Group A where they bested the likes of Eternal Fire, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Lynn Vision Gaming. This run rewarded them with a Quarterfinals spot where they will face off against Team Spirit.
Team Spirit is part of Group B and managed to qualify for the playoffs by beating 3DMAX in the Mid Bracket Semifinals, and proceeded to advance to the Quarterfinals by beating Furia Esports, Imperial Esports.
The winners of the G2-Team Liquid and NAVI-Team Spirit matches will advance to the Semifinals, where they will face off against one another. Whoever wins this will face the winner of the Eternal Fire-MIBR matchup in the Grand Final.
