On Tuesday, January 26, it was announced that thirty teams, each containing three players, will compete in the live draft for the Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl II Featuring Fortnite. The competition has a prize pool of $1,000,000 but will be going to charity. The competition, in association with the NFL Players’ Association, selected some of the best Twitch streamers, NFL players, and community enthusiasts to be part of the 90-man draft. The event will start on the 4th of February at 6 PM EST. All teams will follow the elimination-style format for a portion of the $1 million prize money for their favorite charity.
It has been a fun affair since December 15 which was when the move to determine a draft order started. Streamers have been playing in the Playoffs weekly to streamline what members of the community will be opportune to make the draft. Before the final decision was made, streamers also featured in the Streamer Bowl Cup to make the cut. The first pick of the 2021 draft was awarded to Clix because they won the inaugural Stream Bowl. The top four streamers in the four weeks of Playoff action were given picks two through five. For the other teams, their positions were given randomly.
StableRonaldo, Scoped, Tocata, and the former Fortnite World Cup champion, Bugha, were the weekly winners in the Playoffs. Bugha, however, was rewarded with a second pick as he won the first week of the Playoffs. Clix took no time in selecting his partner from last year, while Bugha had the opportunity to do the same but decided against it.
Epic Games, Twitch Rivals, and the NFL Players Association came together to host this year’s Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl. However, they got into partnership with several other organizations including Capital One, Samsung, State Far, Verizon, Old, Spic, Turbo Tax, and Doritos. As an extra spice to the event, there will be a Rocket League halftime show. We will see the San Francisco 49ers TE, George Kittle and WR, Trent Taylor in action. Also in that line up will be streamers such as JonSandman, Athena, Chell, and SunlessKhan.
Here is a list of the teams and players that will be competing in this year’s event.
