Worlds 2024: LCK Teams Finalized for the Swiss Stage

The LCK is widely considered to be one of the strongest regions in LoL Esports, namely with notable teams like Gen G and T1 earning their reputation from their championships. This is why the recently concluded LCK Regional Finals was an important one, since this will determine which teams will compete on the Swiss Stage at this year’s Worlds 2024 tournament.

Apart from the LCK Summer Split champions Gen G and runner-up HLE, which teams will represent arguably the strongest region in LoL Esports?

T1 Clinches Spot in Swiss Stage, Beats KT Rolster

Faker after winning against KT Rolster

With Gen G, HLE, and DK securing their spots on the Swiss Stage, one final spot remains up for grabs, and the two teams competing for this are T1 and KT Rolster.

T1 is one of the most well-known LoL Esports teams with championship pedigree and experience. Following a 3-2 loss to DK for the third spot, T1 has one more chance to land the final spot in the Regional Finals.

But they had to get through KT Rolster, with Deft, BDD, and 2-time champion BeryL gearing up for their chance to fight on the big stage. KT recently defeated BNK FearX in Round 1 of the Regional Qualifiers, 3-0.

Game 1 saw T1 take the 1-0 lead thanks to some classic methodical T1 gameplay which eventually put the stranglehold on KT. However, KT had other plans in Game 2: with BeryL showcasing why he’s a two-time worlds champion, KT trampled T1 with masterful takedowns from Deft and BDD to even the match, 1-1.

Not to be deterred, Game 3 saw T1 recoup and stick to their grit and grinding playstyle to pick off key moments and win objectives on the shoulders of Oner, Keria, and Faker roaming the map and coming up big during small skirmishes. Game 3 belonged to T1.

While T1 was setting up to get the last win in Game 4, KT wasn’t going down without a fight. BDD and Deft came up huge in Game 4, with BDD netting an impressive 6-0-4 KDA on Yone, while Deft was on point with Miss Fortune, racking up 7-1-6. On top of this, BeryL was again instrumental with his engages as Poppy, giving him an amazing 0-1-15 KDA score. KT won Game 4, tying the matchup 2-2.

Game 5 was win or go home for both teams, and given that both T1 and KT split the first four games, it was anybody’s ball game. KT was off to a great start, matching T1’s harass and kept at pace with their overall gold accumulation.

However, T1 showed why they have been arguably the gold standard when it comes to professional League of Legends. T1 managed to win two key clashes during Game 5: one near Baron Pit which saw Zeus execute a clever play with his Yone to isolate PerfecT’s Camille, which led to a winning clash for T1.

The decisive final clash came when KT was contesting for Baron and Keria managing to lock KT in place on a chokepoint as Leona, where the rest of T1 followed suit and effectively rout the opposing team.

It took them two tries, but T1 is back in the Worlds, and is looking to capture another title for LCK, and further cement Faker’s legacy as LoL Esports’ greatest players of all time.
