The FunSpark ULTI Europe 2020 Europe Final bracket has been released by tournament organizers Funspark and 5Eplay on Thursday, April 15. The tournament will run from April 19-26, with eight teams vying for the largest slice of a $250,000 prize pool.
Funspark ULTI 2020 serves as a replacement tournament for its $300,000 LAN equivalent that was supposed to take place in China last year but got indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The upcoming event will feature a slightly lower prize pool and a different lineup.
That said, Funspark ULTI 2020 won’t lack quality teams since its field includes three top-10 sides in Complexity Gaming, Heroic, and Virtus.pro. Joining the three juggernauts are a few well-known names in BIG, Evil Geniuses, forZe, HAVU Gaming, and Extra Salt.
While BIG, Complexity, Evil Geniuses, Heroic, and Virtus.pro all received direct invites, forZe, HAVU Gaming, and Extra Salt all had to earn their spot at the tournament via their respective regional qualifiers.
Funspark ULTI 2020 will begin on Monday, April 19, with the opening two matches of the upper bracket quarter-finals.

The opening day will kick off with an exciting CIS derby between world no.5 Virtus.pro and forZe, who earned their spot at the tournament with a near-flawless run through the lower bracket of the European qualifiers.

A few hours later, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fans will get served with a clash between world no.10 Complexity and HAVU, who – like forZe – had to earn their spot at the tournament with a lower-bracket run in the European qualifiers. The Finns ended up beating the Russian side in the grand finals, securing the first seed for Funspark ULTI.

Tuesday’s matches will kick off with a fixture between BIG and Extra Salt, who are still looking for their chance to prove themselves in the big boy’s league. The ex-Cloud9 core featuring Johnny “JT” Theodosiou, Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek, and Josh “oSee” Ohm have yet to achieve any notable success this year, besides winning DreamHack Open March 2021: North America in March.
Knowing that winning the Funspark ULTI 2020 will be a massive statement, Extra Salt will be hungry to prove their worth, although making it through BIG and the winner of Heroic vs. Evil Geniuses winner won’t be a walk in the park.

Rounding up the first round of Funspark ULTI 2020 will be Heroic and Evil Geniuses, who will meet on Tuesday at 17:30 CEST. It will mark their first meeting in history, having never faced each other with their current rosters.
As the world no.2 team and the reigning ESL Pro League Season 13 champions, Heroic will enter the match as big CS:GO betting favorites as they take on a team that has won only three games in their last 10. However, it remains to be seen whether the Danes will manage to keep their 10-game winning streak alive.
The Funspark ULTI 2020 could also mark Michał “MICHU” Müller’s debut for Evil Geniuses. The Polish CS:GO pro has been linked with Evil Geniuses for the past few weeks as a possible replacement for Tarik “tarik” Celik.
The tournament will use a double-elimination bracket, with all matches – excluding the grand finals – played as best-of-three (BO3). The grand finals, slated for Monday, April 26, will be played as BO5, with the upper bracket team awarded one map advantage.
Prize Distribution:
1st – $150,000 + Funspark ULTI 2021 invite
2nd – $50,000 + Funspark ULTI 2021 invite
3rd – $15,000
4th – $15,000
5th-6th – $5,000
7th-8th – $5,000
All eight participating teams will be awarded their fair share of the $250,000 prize pool, while the top two teams also receive an invite for a $300,000 Funspark ULTI 2021 LAN tournament, scheduled for December 2021 in China.
