FlyQuest managed to rout LCS favorite Team Liquid in the conclusion of the 2024 LCS Summer Championships in a decisive 3-1 Best-of-5 series. This is the first LCS title win for FlyQuest who thwarted the near-perfect season of Team Liquid, who are six-time regional champions and a heavy favorite to win their seventh title and was undefeated on their way to the Finals.
During the Regular Season of the LCS Summer Split, FlyQuest had a respectable 11-7 record that had them clinch the third spot. Meanwhile, Team Liquid was firing on all cylinders especially at the latter end of the season for a LCS-leading 14-3 record.
What were the Highlights of the FlyQuest vs Team Liquid Finals?
Game 1 saw FlyQuest beating Team Liquid with a team KDA score of 13-5-33, with Inspired’s impressive 5-0-4 Lilia leading the way. Thanks to his control over the jungle and landing key plays over the course of the match, FlyQuest drew first blood.
Game 2 was Team Liquid going full tilt on FlyQuest. They finished the second game with 22 Kills, with Impact, using Jax top, having the most for his team with a huge 8-2-2 KDA score as well as Yeon manning Kalista at bot lane.
Game 3 saw FlyQuest bounce back and win thanks to a massive showing from Massu who used Seraphine and Inspired running a Jungle Zyra. Massu had a 8-1-11 as Support, while Inspired continued to showcase his jungling expertise with an excellent 7-0-10 KDA.
Game 4 was the decisive match that saw both teams jockeying for position in a highly contested bout. For Team Liquid, it was do-or-die as they fought to keep their near-perfect season run alive. Meanwhile, FlyQuest was one game away from dethroning the six-time regional champions and claiming their first ever title.
Team Liquid was doing all they can to avoid elimination, and keeping the pressure on FlyQuest. This led to a FlyQuest overextension that resulted in back-to-back aces for Team Liquid. As the LCS regular split top seeds marched down mid-lane, looking to force a Game 5, FlyQuest managed to defend their nexus.
However, Team Liquid’s push was cut short thanks to FlyQuest’s Super Minions that were smashing Team Liquid’s base. In this deciding match, it was the Minions that turned into Winions to help FlyQuest secure the victory.
Inspired, the Finals MVP, wasn’t even aware of their minions winning them the final match. He stated that he was already preparing himself for Game 5, but all of a sudden their minions pulled through for them.
Which Teams will Represent LCS in Worlds 2024?
The LCS has two spots available in the upcoming Worlds 2024 qualifiers, and one for the Play-In stage. The three LCS teams that have qualified for a chance of landing a spot at Worlds 2024 are FlyQuest, Team Liquid, and 100 Thieves.
FlyQuest gets a qualifying spot at the Swiss Stage since they are champions of the LCS Summer Split Finals. As the 1st runner up, Team Liquid also qualifies for the Swiss Stage. Meanwhile, 100 Thieves get a slot at the Play-In Stage, since they were 2nd runner up in the LCS Summer Split Tournament.
As of this writing, the teams that have qualified for the Swiss Stage are:
LCK – Gen G and HLE (2 More Spots)
LPL – BiliBili Gaming, Top Esports, LNG Esports, and Weibo Gaming
EMEA (LEC) – G2 Esports and Fnatic
LCS (North America) – FlyQuest and Team Liquid
And four teams who will come out of the Play-In Stage.

This year’s Worlds 2024 Play-Ins will begin in Sept. 25 to Sept. 29, and the Swiss Stage will start in Oct. 3 to Oct. 13. Both stages will be held in Riot Games Arena, Berlin.
