Ninjas in Pyjamas knocked out Heroic from Flashpoint Season 3 on Thursday, May 27, with 2-1. The Swedes are now set to face G2 Esports for a ticket leading to the grand finals.
Ninjas in Pyjamas shook Heroic with a 2-1 reverse sweep in the Flashpoint Season 3 lower bracket semi-finals. With that win, Nicolai “device” Reedtz and co. secured a spot in the consolation finals on Friday, May 28.
Seeing the Swedes walk away with a win came as a shock to many.
Heroic entered the match as 1.33 betting favorites yet failed to deliver. Heroic seemed poised to win the title as the highest-rated team at the tournament but got knocked down in the lower bracket early into the event.
After sweeping Sprout (2-0) in the Flashpoint Season 3 opener, Heroic lost to G2 Esports 1-2. Still, the Danes managed an impressive run through the lower bracket.
There they beat Complexity (2-0), Team Vitality (2-0), and Astralis (2-0). Things, however, didn’t go as planned on Thursday.
Heroic started the series against NiP with a commanding 16-10 victory on Nuke but could not match the Swedes on Overpass. NiP struck back with a closely-fought 22-19 victory to tie the series at 1-1.
The Flashpoint Season 3 lower bracket semi-finals got decided on Mirage, where NiP showcased their superiority. NiP exited the first half with an 8-7 lead as CT-Side, and they didn’t show any signs of stopping as Terrorists.
After the switch, NiP reclaimed the lead with four map victories to go 12-7 up. Heroic struck back with a successful defense in the 20th round, reducing the gap to 8-12.
It was, however, too late to stop the in-form NiP, who closed out the deal with four straight rounds. Led by the former Astralis member device, NiP won the final map of the series 16-8, knocking Heroic out of the competition and securing their first head-to-head victory since cs_summit 6 Online: Europe in June.
Device emerged as the best-performing player on Ninjas in Pyjamas on Thursday. He posted a 1.14 rating with +10 K/D and 83.1 ADR.
Device joined Ninjas in Pyjamas on Friday, April 23, marking one of the biggest roster changes in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports scene.
The Dane joined NiP from Astralis, a team where he spent the last five years of his career. With Astralis, device won four Major titles, solidifying himself as one of the most successful CS:GO players of all time.
Since joining Ninjas in Pyjamas, device quickly established himself as a key member of the team. Across 14 maps played, he has averaged a 1.11 rating, 64.3% map win rate, and +26 K/D.
By reaching the Flashpoint Season 3 lower bracket finals, NiP are now only two steps away from hoisting the trophy. If NiP end up winning Flashpoint, it will mark their first A-Tier tournament title since May 2019, when they won Esports Championship Series Season 7 – Europe.
By knocking Heroic out of the tournament, NiP are now set to face G2 Esports in the Flashpoint Season 3 lower bracket finals. The match is scheduled for Friday, May 28, at 21:00 CEST.

G2 Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas last met on Sunday, May 23, in the third round of the upper bracket. NiP took the series lead with 16-12 on Dust2 but ended up suffering a reverse sweep.
G2 won that match with 19-16 on Inferno and 16-14 on Mirage. With that win, G2 earned a spot in the upper bracket finals, where they got swept (0-2) by mousesports.
NiP will be eager to earn a revenge win on Friday; however, the esports bookmakers believe G2 are the most likely victors. However, given NiP’s surge in form and G2’s inconsistencies, this should be an exciting match. Don’t be surprised if it goes all three maps.
