Unikrn is one of the bigger names in the esports betting scene; one of a new breed of betting sites that is dedicated solely to esports. It’s the brainchild of American PC gaming entrepreneur Rahul Sood, and the service has had millions of dollars invested into it from celebrities like Mark Cuban and Ashton Kutcher. It certainly brings some legitimacy to the brand, but has this star power also translated into a good esports betting experience for punters? Show more.
In a word: yes. Unikrn have clearly spent a lot of time streamlining their website, making betting across a range of esports both quick and easy. While no app is available, their website’s responsive design ensures it’ll be possible to place bets on anything from consoles attached to giant 4K TVs to that old Galaxy SII Android phone that your dad still has for some reason.
As we mentioned earlier, Unikrn is legit. The service has been running since early 2015, and has spent a lot of time securing the appropriate licenses to do business. They’re licensed by the UK and Isle of Man gambling commissions, allowing UK players to bet with real money, and are also licensed by the Northern Territories Racing Commission, allowing Aussie betters to get involved in real money esports betting too.
For everyone else, you’ll have to make do with the website’s token-based betting service. You get ‘Unikoins’ for completing ‘quests’, referring friends to the site and (of course) for winning bets. You can use these to place bets across the site, giving you a nice taste of esports betting without risking any real money, just your time. There’s no option to directly cash out, but you can use the tokens to enter regular raffles, giving you a shot at taking home gaming gear and other merch.
The website offers bets across nine esports in total, from established names like Counter-Strike, Call of Duty and League of Legends to emerging titles like Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm.
You can choose to filter by title, by games that are live now, or see all upcoming matches in one really long webpage. Unikrn include embedded Twitch streams where possible, so you can easily tune in to see the results.
As well as choosing the winner of maps and matches, you can drill down deeper in some games with proposition bets; for example you can bet on who’ll get the first Baron in League of Legends. However, there isn’t quite the same depth as we’ve seen on other esports betting sites, which can offer ‘first to frag’, ‘first inhibitor’ and other such bets; League of Legends definitely seems to be the favourite son in this regard. Live betting is also possible.
Unikrn offer support via a live chat function via Luxbet and via email (email@example.com).
Unikrn is backed by gaming commissions in the UK, Isle of Man and Australia, providing bettors with significant security and peace of mind. Withdrawals and deposits are rapid, too. Show less.
Unikrn offers a great match bonus for new depositors. There are some terms and conditions attached, of course, so be sure to read those first. Other bonuses and giveaways do pop up from time; and the site recommends that you follow its Steam group, Twitter and Facebook pages to stay abreast of the latest promotions. This page will also be updated with new bonuses as and when they appear.
