The LCK Summer 2024 season has finally come to an end, and the competing teams have secured their respective spots and will start to compete for the LCK Summer 2024 Playoffs. Only the top six teams out of 10 will advance to the playoffs. From there, they will compete in a high-stakes, double-elimination bracket starting from Round 2. Meanwhile, the top 2 teams with the best regular season records will have a spot in the Semifinals (Round 2).
Here is the current standings for the recently completed LCK Summer 2024 regular season:
TEAM | Regular Season W/L | Bracket |
Gen G | 17W – 1L | Semifinals (Round 2) |
Hanwha Life Esports | 14W – 4L | Semifinals (Round 2) |
Dplus KIA | 12W – 5L | Round 1 |
T1 | 11W – 7L | Round 1 |
KT Rolster | 9W – 8L | Round 1 |
BNK FearX | 8W – 10L | Round 1 |
Among the 10 LCK teams, Gen G and Hanwha Life Esports hold the first and second spots on the standings, respectively.
Gen G has been on a tear since the LCK Spring 2024 Regular season which saw them sit atop the competition with an impressive 17-Win, 1-Loss standing, and eventually besting T1 for the LCK Spring Championship.
This success has continued in the Mid Season Invitational, where they defeated BLG in a 3-1 effort. After this, Gen G’s dominance over the LCK has covered the current LCK Summer regular season which saw them clinch the top spot yet again with a commanding 17W, 1L, mirroring their Spring split performance. Gen G is surely relying on the momentum they have garnered along with Chovy and the rest of the team’s excellent gameplay and knack to put their enemies in a stranglehold on their way to the LCK Summer playoffs.
Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) has been one of the LCK teams that have been paying their dues and have finally reached second place in the standings this Summer season. During the previous Spring season, HLE was tied with T1 in terms of wins and losses, but eventually T1 got the second place. However, during the inevitable faceoff between HLE and T1, their first encounter in the brackets saw HLE resoundingly defeat T1, 3-0. But since the tournament’s format, T1 managed to claw back from the Loser’s Bracket and square off once again with HLE, ultimately beating them 3-1.
Now, HLE has solidified their position and have the advantage in the LCK Summer 2024 Playoffs, while T1’s path to the championship match is longer. HLE is highly likely looking to avenge their loss to T1 in the previous playoffs, should they meet in the semifinals.
Teams holding the 3rd and 4th spot are perennial playoff contenders in DPlus Kia and T1.
DPlus Kia has been trying to get back to their winning ways. Their 9W-9L record back in the LCK Spring Season landed them the 5th place, which netted them a spot on the Spring Playoffs. They managed to beat KT Rolster in Round 1, but were defeated by Gen G in Round 2 in a 3-2 showing. This placed them in the Loser’s Bracket where they eventually fell to T1, 3-0.
For the Summer Season, DPlus Kia has secured 3rd place, and will surely rely on their playoff and championship experience from their mid laner, Showmaker, to climb as far as they can, against tough competition from the other LCK teams.
T1, one of the most popular teams in LoL Esports, has seen their share of rough games during the Summer Season. Their 4th placement and 11W-7L record is seen by many as uncharacteristic from such a talented team. The previous split saw them hold 2nd place with a respectable 15-3 record. They ultimately fell to Gen G during the Spring Split, 3-2.
T1’s current 4th placement in the Summer split will see them compete with the 3rd, 5th, and 6th placed teams, all of whom are excellent clubs that will test their mettle as one of the best Lol Esports teams.
Rounding off the remaining playoff-bound teams are KT Rolster and BNK FearX.
KT Rolster’s run last Spring split saw them land on 4th place in the standings. They fought and lost to DPlus Kia in a competitive match, 3-2. For the Summer split, KT Rolster’s record stands at 9W-8L, enough for 5th place.
KT Rolster is a longstanding LCK team, with a ton of talent in Bdd, Deft, and BeryL, all of which have extensive experience in championships and on the Worlds stage.
BNK FearX has been one of the latest LCK teams to finally break into the playoffs stage. Last Spring split, BNK FearX was on the outside looking in, with their 6W-12L landing them in 7th place, just missing the playoffs.
However, the Summer split saw them fight their way to nab the final 6th spot. Eager to gain experience in high-stakes matches, BNK FearX bears the underdog moniker, but has what it takes to make an impact in the LCK Summer 2024 Playoffs.
As mentioned above, the top six teams from the LCK Summer Season will participate in the playoffs. A double elimination bracket will commence starting from Round 2, and the 1st and 2nd seed receive a bye to Round 2
The 1st seeded team gets to select which Round 1 winner they would play against in Round 2, while the 3rd to 6th seeded teams start in Round 1. Teams that lose during these matchups are eliminated. Meanwhile, the 3rd seeded team gets to pick either the 5th or 6th seeded team to play against in Round 1
All matches during the playoffs are best of five, including the finals. The winner of the LCK Summer championship gets a ₩200,000,000 prize and, more importantly, punches their ticket as a competitor for the 2024 Worlds Championship. The team in second place will receive a ₩100,000,000 cash prize, the third placed team will receive a ₩50,000,000 cash prize, and the fourth place team gets ₩25,000,000.
