Call of Duty League Toronto – Finals Preview
Yesterday saw some shock results with yet another player disconnect, and Dallas losing in one of the closest 3-0’s of the season. CDL Toronto Finals today means we have the final two games to predict. Here’s my analysis, and predictions of these matchups.
Toronto Ultra vs Dallas Empire
After narrowly losing the first two maps, Toronto found themselves 2-0 down needing a reverse sweep to win their group. They showed resilience to do so, as they took the series 3-2. While they may have had an unfair map 4 win due to Prestinni lagging out of the game, the rules are there for a reason and for the rest of the season they will be followed. The two AR’s of Methodz and Cammy were the only players to finish with a positive overall K/D in this series.
Dallas Empire took a 3-0 defeat to FaZe in their group winners match. This was the closest 3-0 of the season, a 250-219 Hardpoint, 6-5 SnD and 160-155 Domination saw Empire put down to the lower qualification match. Here, they took on the Florida Mutineers and won 3-0 themselves. While this match was close, it was nowhere near as close as the FaZe series and Dallas fully deserved the win. One thing that is essential for Dallas is that they outslay. Outslaying by 24 kills allowed them to win this series and put themselves in the semi-final, however against FaZe they were outslayed by 8. While they may not seem like big differences, for Dallas this is the KEY for them to win a series.
The previous matchup between these two teams ended 3-2 in favour of Dallas Empire. This match could very well end the same. Toronto have a lot of momentum here, and being their own Home Series on top of the need to place top 8 for champs, there is a lot to play for. As for Dallas, they’re looking to be the only team to win 4 events this season. While I think Dallas win this match, I cant see this being a 3-0, therefore I’m taking Dallas Empire ML and Over 3.5 Maps Played.
Pick: Dallas Empire ML, 1.33 @ Bet365 & Over 3.5 Maps Played, 1.33 @ Bet365
Atlanta FaZe vs OpTic Gaming Los Angeles
Atlanta FaZe have looked extremely strong so far this weekend. With two 3-0’s they’ll be looking to continue that run and get their semi-final over quickly. aBeZy has continued to dominate with the MP5, while Priestahh has improved drastically this weekend. By no means will this be an easy game, it should be very close, but FaZe look in championship winning form.
OpTic Gaming Los Angeles took down both Seattle Surge and Chicago Huntsmen yesterday to find themselves in the semi-final. Just like Toronto, Chicago have struggled to get past this point. Drazah has the 6th highest overall K/D so far this event with a 1.18, while his young duo Hollow is the only other OpTic player with a positive K/D at 1.02. Moving into this match, they’ll need to be composed and possibly win the vetoes to have a chance in this match.
This is the time of the season where players such as Slasher, TJHaly and Kenny all step it up. Getting that winners bracket seed is extremely important to these teams, and if OpTic win this match, they secure that winners bracket spot. However, FaZe are an excellent team and it will be extremely hard for OpTic to win, but I expect them to win a map. So I’m taking OpTic Gaming Los Angeles +2.5.
Pick: OpTic Gaming Los Angeles +2.5, 1.66 @ Midnite
