Call of Duty League Championships – Day 2 Preview
CDL Championships
As we approach the end of year Call of Duty League Championships we take a look at the first matches in the winners bracket. Here’s some analysis of the games and finally my betting tips for the matches.
New York Subliners vs Minnesota Rokkr
The New York Subliners have improved drastically during the second half of the season and the addition of Mack to the roster has propelled them into a top 6 team. While they didn’t have the best last event of the season, that could’ve been due to some overconfidence following their previous Home Series victory or due to the slight meta shift. Taking on the Minnesota Rokkr shouldn’t be a problem for the Subliners and this should be an easy victory for them.
Minnesota Rokkr have gone from a top 6 team to a bottom 4 team following the turn to online matches. This has seen them get progressively worse throughout the online matches and eventually forced them to make a roster change. This means that we will see Exceed play in place of GodRx at the Call of Duty League Championships. While we can’t look into this roster change too much, it could be just what Minnesota needs to return to form.
Prediction
New York Subliners are 2-0 up in the head to head winning 3-0 and 3-1. New York should take this series 3-0 or 3-1 again as they have been playing much better Call of Duty recently compared to Minnesota. Because of this, I’m taking a -1.5 Handicap for the New York Subliners
Pick: New York Subliners -1.5 Handicap, 1.64 @ Midnite
London Royal Ravens vs Toronto Ultra
The London Royal Ravens have had a year which sees them sit in the middle of the pack. While they haven’t been able to win a Home Series, they’ve secured themselves multiple semi-finals and a final throughout the year which is around what was expected from the squad. However, London have been able to perform against teams in the mid and bottom of the League while struggling against the top 3. This may be something that splits these two teams as Toronto themselves have struggled against teams around them in the League.
Toronto Ultra are coming off their Home Series win at the last event of the season being their own. This means that they have the most momentum any team could ask for coming into the Call of Duty League Championships and will be looking to take on the Florida Mutineers in the following winners round 2 match.
Prediction
While both sides have a similar roster and playstyle, they have only gone head to head once and therefore we don’t have much to see between the two. However, I’m going to take a London Royal Ravens ML and Over 3.5 Maps Played. This is because London have a better record against teams around them in the League, whereas Toronto seems to struggle against alike opponents.
Pick: London Royal Ravens ML, 1.85 @ Midnite & Over 3.5 Maps Played, 1.26 @ Midnite
